I noticed that many people were blogging about the first day of Fall yesterday, and they seemed really excited about it. Not me!! Although I must admit that the colours are beautiful, and I love to capture them with my camera, all I can think about is the fact that it’s too cold to sit out on my deck and read now, and soon my nerves will be frazzled from driving in the s*@#. You see, I can’t even say it out loud!!
So, while trying to figure out what I could post to convey my feelings about the changing seasons, I found this picture of a maple leaf that in my mind is obviously resisting the change just like I am :).
I don’t know if it was growing up in Africa or just my dirty mind but I read shit not snow. Yes I know it’s the middle of the night but someone had to clean up the Monkeys vomit and now I’m relegated to the sofa(couch) bed in the living room with him a bucket and cartoons to keep us company.
Nine months away from other kids and nary a sniffle, he’s been back in the disease factory a week and already he’s had a cold and now a tummy bug. I don’t know if I feel more sorry for him or me.
Shit, snow, same difference :). Aww, poor Monkey – he’s so lucky to have such a good Daddy to look after him!!
Daddy isn’t so good I ignored his wailing and mum sent him back to his vomit encrusted bed twice with the explanation that there was no chicken bits on it before she finally went through and discovered that fair enough his bed was encrusted with bits of chicken. This was the stage I was kicked out of bed to fire up the washing machine, clean, polish, disinfect etc. etc. etc. Now I’m up and lying next to him while he snores and breathes his stinky breath on me. Parenthood, who knew it was such fun.
I must say I was overjoyed when my boys got old enough to make it to the bathroom to be sick :). When they were wee ones, they could never make it to a sink or even a floor. They always puked on the carpet. Yuck!!
Beds and bathroom floors are definitely preferable to carpet. I guess I’ve been lucky at least everything fitted in the washing machine.
Very lucky, trust me!
🙂
It’s raining quite a bit in Miami. Still hot and humid. I long for some cool days, but not cold ones.
Like the maple leaf, at some point we are all resistant to change. 🙂
Ahhh, hot and humid! Can I come and live with you? 🙂
I’m grumpy as hell it’s too vild too quick. I tried sitting outside today but it was too cold. Down to 40 tonight. Yuck. $&@!
Ps too cold too quick. Damn fingers
Yes, we are under a frost warning here :(. I haven’t broken down and turned on the furnace yet, but I am weakening!
I already told my husband we have to turn it on. Come on its darn cold!
It’s supposed to get warmer here by the weekend, so I think I can hold out one more week :).
What a perfect picture for your thoughts about autumn! You can always come down to VA for a visit…it’s warmer longer here. 🙂
What a great idea. I will start out with a visit to you, and then as it gets colder I will just keep moving south LOL!
Seriously get a warm sweater, a beanie, and long underwear. you can still sit outside and read. Of course you may need a waterproof book when all the snow starts flying.
No way man!! Inside, on the couch, under a warm blanket, with the heat turned up. That’s the way I read in the fall and winter :). LOL!!
Where’s your sense of adventure!
I love adventure – I just don’t like being cold LOL!
Oh how pleased I am to see it happening… cause it means our heat must be just around the corner… Ahhh to pack away those Jerseys and longs I so hate and full time shorts and tee shirts, wonderful… sorry Dear, but your turn now… and watch out for the S@&#… oh hold on that means SNOW… not SH.. lol
Get your spare room ready – I’m coming for a long visit :).
You’re welcome anytime…
🙂
Embrace the beauty Cindy, and come over to the white side! 😉
Nooooo!!! You can’t make me do it! LOL 🙂
I agree with you – I say neige (the French word for you-know-what)!
Yayyyy, a fellow neige hater!! 🙂
I’ve got a hat. 🙂
Well, that’s a start for sure, but it won’t be enough around here when the s*@# hits :).
🙂 I’m very sympathetic of course, but really I was just boasting. 🙂
LOL 🙂
No fall here, temps still in the 80s F
Ahhh, the 80s. I miss those deliciously warm temperatures :). I can’t wait for them to return. You are soooo lucky!!
Ohh wow I love that, it’s such a great picture for reflecting change, great find, Cindy! I too am very sad about the end of summer, I love it so and am not quite ready to break out the warm jumpers quite yet. It’s so much easier to think positively when the sun is shining too, it’s the best medicine. 😀
Thanks Becky :). I was pretty sure you would like this post because I know you are a sun worshiper just like me. I will miss the feeling of the sun’s warmth soaking into my skin and the smile it brings to my face. Oh well, I will just have to go into hibernation until next spring. And while in hibernation I will stay snuggled on my couch under a blanket reading all my books!!
I thought this, and it’s link to music, might cheer you up. Best of Luck.
Ohhhh, how I love that song! Thank you :). I think you had a good influence on our weather with that because it was sunny and beautiful today, and I was actually able to sit out on my deck and read after work. I know it won’t last, but I really enjoyed it!!
Your welcome. Mind the sateriskathashflakes.
🙂
I love fall because of the colors & the cooler weather. But I am not looking forward to the s word either.
That “s” word is nasty isn’t it?? I need to fly to a tropical island while I still have the chance. Do you want to come along?
I hate to fly, but how about shanghaiing a cruise ship & heading for the Caribbean?
