Have you ever planned a huge surprise for someone? It is such an amazing feeling :). I’ve planned little ones before, but last weekend my hubby and I pulled off the best surprise ever. My oldest son is in his final year at college, and he has built up a fairly sizable debt over the last three years. Unfortunately, we couldn’t afford to pay for his schooling, but we have helped him in any other ways that we could, and honestly, I think it has been a really good learning experience for him not having the money just handed to him.
He has been driving the same older car for the last three years, and it has been a reliable car, but over the last six months or so it has started to fall apart, and the repairs were really adding up. Then about a month ago, our mechanic told us about a car that was for sale. It is older as well, but it’s in really good shape. Bryan will be finishing his electrician’s course in a couple of months and then will be looking for an apprenticeship. We thought that if this car could get him through until he gets settled in an apprenticeship, it would be one thing he wouldn’t have to worry about. So, we bought the car and showed up at his apartment last Saturday to surprise him. The look on his face was priceless, and the hug he gave his dad as I videotaped his reaction brought tears to my eyes. Surprises are the best :).
Now let’s have some blogging fun. It’s Friday and time for the mystery photo game. I think this one is fairly hard but definitely not as hard as last week. Are you feeling smart this week? Let’s see what you’ve got. Ok, ready, set, go….
seems familiar but cannot venture a guess yet
Come on, give it a try :).
You guys are so sweet. What a great thing to do for your son. I’m trying to figure out what that is really looks familiar to me too. I know I’m going to kick myself when I see the answer. Okay I’m going to say it’s from a kids game has that for vague.
Thanks Edith. He’s just been working so hard and never complains about not having any money or about driving an old car, so it felt good to help him out. Yes, I think you will probably kick yourself when you see the answer :). Think hard!!
They look like tiles from an old board game, maybe scrabble although I’ve never seen them with red backs. Your son is a lucky man to have parents like you.
Aww thanks Bunny :). I feel lucky to have such wonderful sons too. They have both turned out amazing!
okay I do not know yet but boy your son is lucky–you are wonderful parents!
Thanks LouAnn :). We just try to help in any little way we can.
Yaaaaaay! So glad his reaction was all that you had hoped for! I have to say if my parents surprised me with something that big I would be beaming (and probably crying because I’m the emotion type, LOL)
As for the picture, I think this is some kind of sneaky intelligence test and you are secretly psychoanalysing us, LOL.
On second thoughts, maybe these are square table mats pushed together into a group of four.
WHO KNOWS.
Like the others above, I feel like I should know what this is BUT MY BRAIN WON’T COOPERATE.
Wait, how could I be doing that. I’m not studying psychology. Hahahaha!!! It was wonderful to see Bryan so happy. I don’t know how long this car will last him, but it’s definitely safer than what he was driving :).
I know they are some kind of tiles & I know I’ve seen them before but for the life of me I can’t remember where. Mahjongg tiles?
I know you are all going to kick yourselves when you see the answer because I could tell that it was on the tips of your tongues. You knew it, but you just couldn’t quite put your finger on it. It’s the closeup of the side of a Rubik’s Cube! Gotcha!!
they were matching–that is what the problem is–I am sure I never had four matching at any time I tried it!
I eliminated it from my guessing as I’ve never seen one made from white plastic
Haha! Daniel can complete it iess than a minute :).
smart boy!
You’re right I am kicking myself. I knew it looked familiar.
Don’t worry about it. All of you do far better at this game than I ever would :).
My 1998 Toyota Avalon with 203,000 miles on it is in the shop now for some repairs. Can I expect to see you guys pulling up at my house with a replacement?
Hmmm, a trip to Texas. I’ll see what my mechanic can dig up :).
Just as long as he doesn’t literally dig up something buried.
Haha! Ok, I’ll make sure.
