I don’t know if we could ever surpass the fun and craziness that we had last week with the mystery photo, but I am really excited about this week’s close-up shot because I took it with my new extender tubes. I have been so busy that I haven’t done much with the tubes since I bought them, but a few days ago I was feeling quite inspired and spent about a half an hour experimenting on manual mode with manual focus. It’s amazing how much closer they allow you to get!!
Now, I’m pretty sure that this is going to be super challenging for everyone, and TBM and LouAnn will probably start whining again (LOL – just kidding), but I want everyone to give it their best try. Then tomorrow or the next day I will show you some pictures of what this looks like from a normal distance, so that you can see the comparison. I think you will be pretty amazed.
Time to play the mystery photo game, and I’m posting this earlier than usual to see if TBM will get in there and guess first :). Ok, ready, set, go…..
where is TBM–I don’t want to go first
this looks like the sleeve of my housecoat–have you been spying on me again young lady?
okay, so no one else is here yet–is it a close up of a scrubby–one of those things you clean pots and pans with — I read about these once
You know, this isn’t the right answer, but it is a really good answer. It really does look like a scrubby sponge 🙂
thank you – I like being wrong well
LOL!!
I don’t mean to brag, but I think we are both excellent at being wrong. I mean each week, we fail. Not too many people can accomplish that. Now, bunnies, they are just too smart.
a bubble?
soap suds?
I am not going away until I get this–a clean honeycomb–okay now I am just getting silly–be back later to see what others guessed– if Mr Bunnykins gets it I am going to be mad!
Snake skin?? 🙂 **
it’s the skin of your sons gekko or another reptile, and people accuse me of not paying attention.
I never accused you of not paying attention–and if you win this again you will no longer be in my good books.
I’ve managed to win once in a year of trying
once more than me except for the legos!
suck to be you 😉
Now children, don’t make me pull this car over!!!! LOL
ha ha – bunny and I have made friends today–see what a wonderful place your blog is?
Awww, that just makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside 🙂
We’re glad to be of service
ha ha
I’m thinking snake skin, real or imitation, or possibly fish scales.
Oh boy, things are getting heated again LOL!!!!!
Do I really want to get into this guessing thing? I think it’s human skin.
I think that Xandre and I as African’s are cheating because we used to find snake skins as kids so we have probably studied reptiles closer than most. Still I suppose we could be wrong it certainly wouldn’t be the first time.
Hmmm….what are those little wafer thingys called? Ok that’s my guess…a little wafer thingy 🙂
an iguana
I’m telling you it’s Zipper
https://photosfromtheloonybin.wordpress.com/2012/08/06/rip-tear-munch-munch/
ok I cheated and went back to find his name but I’m positive I’m right this time
that is so funny–I was just trying to do the same thing and got discouraged–especially when I am really supposed to be working–I think you are right–she should give you a prize–are you listing Ms. Looneytunes?
listening not listing–correct that for me will you–I know you have it in your power
I’m supposed to be working too but there is a magical little box on the right hand side near the top that let’s you type words like gecko into it and clever algorithyms take you right were you want to go.
you are one smart bunny!
if I was really smart I’d understand the algorithyms behind the search engine and be loaded, sadly I am poor.
me too, I will ask my son–he is a computer genius–although if he knew, I suspect he would be loaded by now –so much for that idea
maybe he is loaded and just sponging for as long as he can, I believe that’s why rich people are rich because they look after every penny and scrooge it away. Maybe he’s just spent it all on beer and being a student. maybe I’m clutching at straws in the hope that you will be able to live off your sons income in the near future.
I would love for my son to let me live off him–and maybe he will share a beer or two with me (bud light lime)
back to the real world and the problem being that merely understanding the algorithyms that others have already invented may not be enough I fear we may have to come up with new even cleverer ones before our retirement sipping beers comes any closer. Bugger I was enjoying my Friday afternoon dreaming.
don’t like the real world. think I will just go cry in my beer.
thankfully I live a lot further east than you and it’s only 40 minutes till I can escape and pretend I’m French. (drink wine and eat cheese) I like Fridays even if I do have to work tomorrow.
my sister has a cottage just on the Quebec border but lives in Orleans–haven’t been there yet but cannot wait
I pretend I am French sometimes (last name is French but no one has spoken French in my family for centuries–I had to put my kids in French immersion to give them a little “culture”)
I just like cheese and wine, I can drive to france via a ferry within two hours from home though. I did break the suspension on my car the last time I did it though as i fear we slightly overfilled it with vin rouge, vin blanc and most importantly vin with bubbles in. mmmmmm vin with bubbles in. Enjoy the rest of your Friday’s ladies I’m off to find me some vin
vin with bubbles – my favourite- now back to work with all of us!
You guys are hilarious!!! I am so busy at work this morning that I am only able to take quick peeks here and there, but I just wanted you to know that you are keeping me entertained as usual :).
I was busy and actually working, which is why I haven’t been blogging myself for weeks until you came along and distracted me with your Friday timewarp.I’d better be right after making all this noise this week, I’ll dissapear with my tail between my legs if I’ve humiliated myself.
Now be honest Bunny – you love my Friday distraction!! You are obsessed with it now just like everyone else :).
you’re quite right I do love it
🙂
It has almost a pearl-y look to it, and almost looks like confectionery cake.
this blog has been taken over by homefront and bunny – move quietly to the side and no one will get hurt – where is TBM
I think she’s afraid 🙂
never be afraid–we love you even though we kind of took over for awhile
Wow I take an afternoon off to get some work done and people start accusing me of being a mystery photo slacker. I see that zipper is a popular guess for this one, and the bunny is usually right. However, I’m going to guess Loofah brush. I should mention that I’m not totally confident with this answer. Actually, I’m pretty sure I’m wrong, but that was my first instinct and I usually go with my first instinct, which may explain why I am perpetually lost. Can someone direct me to my bathroom. The situation is getting dire.
up the stairs–to the right–no, no that is my bathroom–
I bet your toilet is cleaner. Maybe i should use my loofah brush—only if I had one.
By the way, what do we do if the bunny is right again. This is starting to get embarrassing. Maybe I should have my cat and dog guess for me.
TBM — bunny is probably right again–we just have to bow to his superior guessdom
We need to get him on our side—I need to stock up on carrots.
funnily enough the traditional Bunny Chow (a type of south african curry) would normally be served with a carrot pickle.
Really. I do love curry, but didn’t sample any when I visited South Africa. Now I have another reason to go back. I loved it there.
yep, there are a couple of distinct styles, the cape malay (immigrants from malaysia) which tend to be very heavy on the fruit and then you have Durban curries including the incredible Bunny Chow which was basically a way of transporting their lunch (it’s curry inside a loaf of bread) before the days of tupperware.
I prefer that method. I can never find the correct lid to my tupperware.
you too, I think they hide with the single socks.
Maybe the lids are cold and steal the socks for warmth. I have three that I’m currently missing.
I agree–we better ask if he likes the full size or the minis
At first glance I would have said the net you use to cook cottage ham, but then I noticed the little tiny bubble looking things up near the top, so now I would guess it’s some type of sloughed reptile skin because of the different size of scales.
ok it’s Saturday now, I want to know if it’s time to collect my prize yet?
Ok, as Mr. Bunny Chow has so patiently pointed out (LOL), it is Saturday morning, and the impossible has happened. I think you guys actually surpassed the humour content of last week, and it seems as if my Friday blog has now become a chat room :). I had a very busy and stressful day yesterday at work, but LouAnn, TBM, and Mr. Bunny Chow kept me smiling all day.
Now for the reveal……drum roll please……..Many people were on the right track this week recognizing that it was some type of skin, but Mr. Bunny Chow is the winner because he correctly identified it as shed skin from my son’s leopard gecko, Zipper. I am very proud of you, Mr. Bunny Chow, for how far you have come in this great game of guessery, and I have been really enjoying how much you have managed to piss off LouAnn and TBM!! I am also very impressed with your research skills, going back in my blogs to find out Zipper’s name. By the way, my husband made up the word “guessery” and claims that it is part of the new Webster’s Dictionary, and if it’s not he’s sure it will be recognized this year.
Now, we are on our way out this morning to try and do the impossible – find an idea for a Christmas gift for my husband, the man who has everything – but tune in tonight because I am going to expand on this blog by showing you the unzoomed source of the mystery photo. You are going to be truly amazed (or grossed out for some). Great job everyone and thank you for making my Fridays so much fun :).
you did not answer – what did he win — and Mr. Bunny will you share it if it is chocolate?
It’s possible to share chocolate?
no,no, I guess not (I say sadly)
I suppose the prize could be chocolate, but It might be a little tricky to get it to him LOL. Plus it is impossible to share chocolate, so you will have to get it right next week LouAnn so you can win your own chocolate!! 🙂
yeah, and I am not that far away–should be easy to send it to me
