Can you tell I’m a little bit excited?? Shall I let you in on my secret??
As I mentioned, yesterday my parents and I went to a photography show in Toronto. It is put on by Henry’s camera store twice a year, and it is a blast!! We enjoyed free seminars all day long, and I, of course, had to visit the Canon booth to look at the Rebel T3i. I purchased my Rebel XSi in 2008, and lately I have been thinking that it was time to upgrade and thought it would be a great birthday present from my hubby (my birthday is at the beginning of July). Well, to make a long story short, the T3i package with the 18-55mm lens and the 55-250mm lens was on sale for $300 off, plus there was a $25 coupon for the show, plus they said they would give me $250 if I traded in my old camera. So, of course I had to phone my hubby to tell him, and he told me to get it!!!! He’s such a good husband :). I also got a Hoodman loupe for looking at the LCD in bright sunlight. I have wanted one for a long time, and they were on sale too. Yayyy!!! The best part of my purchase was when I made the salesman sing Happy Birthday to me before I would seal the deal!! LOL
My Mom also traded in her old camera for a newer model, so we were both very happy girls by the time we left the show, although a little brain dead after taking in so much information at the seminars. We heard a talk given by a photojournalist who had covered the war in Libya which was fascinating as he had many photos to share with us. Then we went to a seminar about iPad essentials for photography followed by a seminar about outdoor photography tips and techniques, and last but not least we learned about macro photography with different types of light sources.
So, I’m off to experiment with my new baby! Apparently, my laptop doesn’t want to recognize my camera, so I think I need to do a firmware update. It should be a busy day :).
