Have you ever wondered where artists get their inspiration? The following image (courtesy of Google) is “The Scream”, which is one of the world’s most recognizable works of art created by Norwegian painter, Edvard Munch. “It depicts a man in a private moment of anguished despair and anxiety, while the other people in the painting, perhaps his friends, seem blissfully unaware of the man’s situation.” (http://www.popspotsnyc.com).
Well, while Mike and I were hiking a couple of weeks ago at Hope Bay, Ontario, we discovered that Mr. Munch must have visited Canada and found his inspiration walking the Bruce Trail. It’s obvious right?
Yes, it is VERY obvious. What a hoot!
I’m first! I’m first! I’m first! Wow, wow, wow. THAT doesn’t happen very often.
It was my hubby who noticed it first. We were walking along when all of a sudden he stopped and backtracked and then called me over because he thought it looked so much like the painting. All it needs are hands on either side, and it would be perfect :). Congrats on being the first by the way LOL!!
that’s great!
Thanks! I don’t think the tree looks quite as upset though somehow :).
Haha!!! Soooo funny!!! 🙂 **
Glad you liked it 🙂
Very cool!
Thanks 🙂
Ha!
Ha ha! 🙂
Ha ha that’s so funny, good find! I can’t believe that! 😛
That stooopid painting reminds me of year 9 Art class, we had to do a whole thing on it, lol! If it wasn’t for that I think I would actually really like the painting. 🙂
I hated art class!!!! I can’t even draw stick people convincingly LOL. Of course, when I saw this tree I immediately thought of the tree ents from LOTR, but when Mike said it looked like the scream painting, I had to agree :).
perfect–you made my morning – that tree was in the image of me.Munch did that portrait of me in another life.
I hope I was able to make you smile :).
he is me 🙂
here here here not he
LOL – you been drinking again? And without me??
you should have made this the mystery photo–I would have gotten it right as it does depict me in the state I am currently in right now
Oh oh, are you having a bad week?!? Do you need us to come down and take you to the casino?
bad week–wish I was having a bad week–a bad week right about now would be a good week–yes–let us go to the casino and I will break lose and play the dollar slots!
You shouldn’t tempt us like that. If I were to suggest it to Mike right now, he would be down there this weekend for sure :). I’m sorry you’re having an even worse than bad week – I don’t like when my friends are stressed and unhappy :(.
I’d be careful near that tree… it might be catching, then the next thing we know is you picture changes to something like the top photo…
Ewww, I wouldn’t want that – I’m a happy person :).
Yes, I am sure that is the way it happened…. Edvard was out for a stroll in Canada… but if he knew that his pastel sold for $120,000,000 US (yes, that is 120 MILLION!) last year, he really would be screaming!
Wow, do you think if I cut that tree down and sold it as a piece of art, I could make even a fraction of that?? That would be so awesome! 🙂
WOWZA! What a freaky tree!!!!!!
I know!! I was waiting for it to start talking to us :).
LOL! A talking freaky tree!
The screamer in the tree even has a little friend near the base of the tree!
Wow, I never even noticed that!! Good eyes on ya :).
This is truly inspired, Cindy! I’ve been collecting the faces in nature that I’ve found through the years, and this is a magnificent example. Thanks for making the connection and sharing it!
You are very weicome, but I have to give credit for this one to my hubby because he’s the one who noticed it :). He’s very observant when he wants to be LOL!!
