So, how is everyone doing with their New Year’s resolutions? Did you make any? I don’t usually bother with them much, but this year I overindulged well before the holiday season, during the holiday season, and even afterwards. I stepped on the scales and realized that enough is enough. Not only do I love food far too much, but my addiction to reading and electronics, along with my desk job, means that I also sit on my butt for far too many hours each day.
I recently started reading a book called Aging Backwards by Miranda Esmonde-White which is all about a form of exercise called Essentrics. According to the website, “Essentrics is a dynamic workout that simultaneously lengthens and strengthens every muscle in the body, resulting in greater joint mobility and lean, long muscles”. Miranda explains that aging happens in our cells and shows how to maintain and repair those cells and roll back joint pain and muscle loss at any age. So, I started a 30 day challenge on her website, doing one of her 30 minute Classical Stretch workouts every day, and even though the workouts look really easy and gentle, I am exhausted (in a good way) by the time I’m done. I’m also using an app on my iPhone to count calories, and I have really made an effort to cut out the crap and make healthier choices. It has now been 10 days, and I have lost 6 pounds and I feel great. Here’s hoping I can keep it up!
Now that I’m done talking about resolutions, let’s get to the mystery photo. I will give you a hint – it has nothing to do with chocolate because of course I’m trying to stay away from that evil substance for the time being :). Let’s see what you can do. Ok, ready, set, go…..
That’s great Cindy good luck with your resolution. I think I’ll check out that exercise routine. My muscles and joints do need a bit of a workout. Now for my gas I think that’s the tip of a battery either a AA or AAA.
You really should give it a try and read her book. Her theories make a lot of sense, and I feel great!
At first i was thinking perhaps a dumbell for weight lifting to gobalong with your story but now thatbi read Edith’s thoughts i think she may be right…. I too have begun a crossfit program and a program called isagenixs …. Down 27lbs in about 60 days.
Wow!!!! 27 pounds? That’s amazing! Good for you :).
That there is the positive, +, end of a battery. C, D, double or triple A I couldn’t tell you.
excerwhat? seriously though good for you, picture appears to be the end of a battery, did you black and white it so we can’t tell if it’s energiser (I think it is) or duracell?
Thanks Bunny :).
now that others have guessed I agree–it is the end of a battery–but I did not know until I cheated so if this is right–I should get no kudos–
Well, at least you admit you cheated. You should get kudos for that :).
that’s my positive girl!
Thanks for the recommendation on the exercise & stretching! I find doing yoga / stretching helps me a lot to stay more supple, balance better, and stand with better posture. I’m going to go check this out – looks like something to add to my routine.
Nancy
You should definitely check it out. I think you would enjoy it :).
It does look like the end of a battery! I cheated and read one of your other blogger’s guesses. It will feel so good to finally get one right. Meanwhile, congratulations on your Aging Backwards progress. If you keep guiding me to good health I might get that right too. I did walk 4,000 steps in the freezing cold this morning. That should count for something. Giving up chocolate is pretty much out of the question, so you have my deepest admiration. Keep going. You’re on the road to success. 🙂
Thanks for cheering me on Dor :). I think that walking in the freezing cold should count for double the amount of steps!! I came home and shovelled the driveway last night, so I did allow myself a couple of squares of a chocolate bar, but only a couple. It was a nice reward :).
Looks like the bottom of an Eveready battery! They are usually silver with some black where the writing is.
Whoa, looking at the comments above I never would have guessed that was the end of a battery! But now that I’ve read the comments I can see it and think they’re right.
Sounds like you are doing ace with the exercise! Hey, you should reward yourself with a new book every time you reach a weight goal. Hows that for motivation power? (Seeing as you can’t pick chocolate, lol) 😉
You always have the most wonderful ideas Becky :). I think I should make weekly weight goals – that way I could get a new book every week!!
where is our correspondent in England?
You’re right! Bunny commented, but TBM was missing in action.
Wait. Friday happened and I missed it?
Silly TBM :). This is proof that you are working too hard!
Happy weekend everyone!! I tried to confuse you by converting the photo to black and white, but you are all too smart for me. It is the positive end of a AA battery. Congrats everyone!!
tried to confuse me? does not take much — just never turn chocolate black and white and you and I will be bff! btw–the pic in my blog today is of my youngest son about twenty years ago–you visited but I did not have it titled then–thought you might like to know
It doesn’t take much to confuse me either, and don’t worry, I will never mess with chocolate :).
Aww, your son was adorable (and I’m sure probabaly still is). I love going down memory lane, but it is kind of sad too. They have grown up far too fast.
way too fast, I agree
