Guess what? After what seems like weeks and weeks of gray skies and rain, a bright yellow ball actually appeared in the sky yesterday, and it ended up being a very pleasant fall day. My car was in getting undercoated before the nasty “s” stuff hits, so my friend and I decided to walk to my mechanic’s to pick up my car. Before my trip to Europe, we were walking every day to help me get me into shape, but since I’ve been back, the weather has really not cooperated very often. It felt wonderful to get out in the fresh air and get some exercise. Today looks like we might have a repeat performance, so I intend to get out for a walk again because I know that once winter hits I will be joining the bears in hibernation :).
Ok, now it’s time to get those neurons firing. I really love the mystery photo I have chosen for this week because of all the different textures that keep your eyes exploring continuously. Let’s see what you can come up with. Is this an easy one or a hard one?
Medieval foot measuring device for giants?
Hahaha!!! That’s an awesome answer :).
Happy Friday by the way.
Same to you :). I can’t wait for this day to be over!
Love it
Thank you Bunny :).
Looks to me like some sort of railway sleeper
Railroad tie connector–and, for a change, only MBC made my guess before i did!
You were very quick this week Gary :).
my husband told me it was a railway tie–I certainly would not have recognized it–maybe I will bring him in on mystery photo more often–I love the way it looks–you should frame it!
Thanks! It is a cool shot isn’t it? It looks even better at full resolution. I always have to shrink them so I don’t use up all my storage space on WordPress.
Hmmm…not sure. Some kind of connector. Maybe for a railway. Have a great weekend Cindy.
You too Edith!
To me this looks like an old-fashioned hinge on a barn door, except a lot of the door is missing? Or a hinge on a wooden post gate? I think the pic is tilted so the little stones on the right are actually the ground.
Interesting answer.
Not just any old railway tie, but a talking railway tie. You can see it’s chewing gum in left corner of it’s mouth. I wouldn’t like to repeat the words but you can imagine being run over by trains several time a day, 😛
Oh how I love your imagination :).
That’s what my bank manager said. 😀
LOL 🙂
This looks to me like the bit of wood that connects underneath the railway track, I spent quite a lot of time trying to balance along the mental of an abandoned track when I was younger, LOL. I got all excited thinking I might be the only one to guess it but it seems people have beaten me again, meanies! 😛
Were you good at the balancing act? And was there any alcohol involved? LOL
Haha yes super good because I used to do ballet and gymnastics so I considered it a fun way to practice.
Haha, nope, alcohol! I was only like 6-7yrs. 🙂 (Don’t worry, I had adult supervision.)
LOL – ok. I didn’t realize you meant that young :).
Good morning everyone and happy weekend :). Last night we went to see the movie, Fury, and it was fantastic – very intense! I would highly recommend it if you want to check out a movie this weekend. I thought I had a pretty hard mystery photo this week, but as usual you are all too smart for me. It is a railway tie connector. Great job you smarty pants!!
OK, so I missed completely. I guess I should check out railway ties more often? 🙂
Late to the party since we just got back from Disney this morning at 2 a.m.
Looks to me like some sort of track hold down on an old railroad. Definitely looks like railroad spikes holding the metal piece to the tie, but not sure what the piece they’re holding is as it looks a little different than what I’m used to seeing. Maybe part of a switch???
Aww, why didn’t you take me with you to Disney? You are correct that it is a railway tie connector, and a pretty old one at that :).
Love, hope, and peace on your journey
