I can’t believe it! One week from today my hubby and I will be boarding a plane for a two week trip of a lifetime to Paris, London, and Scotland. It seems like just yesterday that I started planning this a year ago, and now it’s almost here. Part of me still doesn’t believe we are going, but I have all the tickets and other paperwork, and pretty much every item has been crossed off of my to-do list, so I think it’s really happening :).
I can’t wait to see all the famous places and landmarks that I have only read about (the Eiffel Tower, Notre Dame, the Louvre, Stonehenge, Bath, Loch Ness, Stirling Castle, the Royal Mile, Edinburgh Castle to name just a few), and my camera is going to get a workout like never before. Most of all, I can’t wait to go to the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo, which people buy tickets for almost a year in advance. I just know it will be an amazing experience that I will never forget. And men in kilts – what’s not to like about that? LOL! The McLaren in me can’t wait to walk the streets of Edinburgh where my great great grandfather was born.
So, I will try to do a mystery photo next week if I have time, but then for the first time ever, there will be two weeks without a mystery photo. I hope my blogging family will understand :). The last couple of weeks I think I have been pretty easy on you, so this week I am really going to make your brains work. Let’s see what you can come up with, and remember no guess is a stupid guess. I love them all! Ok, ready, set, go…..
hmmmm looks like some kind of teasmaid. I’m sure that the faithful will be understanding although I’m happy to curate for a couple of weeks.
Geez, I had to look up what a teasmaid is, so I guess that tells you that your guess is incorrect LOL!
don’t like being the first guess–but it looks like your space ship is leaking–
on another note–am really excited about your trip but will miss you–looking forward to some pics of guys in kilts–I have a little Scottish background too!
Aww, you will miss me? That’s so sweet. I wish I could take you with me. OMG, there was the most amazing pic of a guy in a kilt on Facebook this week. I will have to find it and share it. Not too shabby let me tell you :).
I am waiting in breathless anticipation……….
I just posted two photos for you on Facebook :).
Mr.Bunny and I must have been doing the mystery photo at the same time but he got his comment here first–what the heck is a teasmaid? is it from outer space?
LOL!! I had to Google “teasmaid”. I certainly don’t have one on my spaceship – only a chocolate dispenser :).
I have no idea! But super excited for your trip. I bet you come of with great mystery photos while on your trip. I can think of a few ideas for Scotland 😉
Yes, me too (wink, wink). I can’t wait to actually meet you :).
Wait. You’re serious. I thought you were joking about meeting up in London 🙂
Funny girl :).
The ideal mystery photo to post after you get back is the one you’ll have taken of the Loch Ness monster.
Shhh, don’t give away my idea :).
so it’s not a teasmaid then, they were really popular in the 80’s with grandparenty types although they’re a great idea they never really took off or stayed in fashion. basically they’re an alarm clock that makes you tea or coffee in the morning. I’m going to guess again then, some kind of light switch with adjustable power output.
That’s a cool concept, but since I don’t drink tea or coffee it didn’t surprise me that I had never heard of them before :).
This week’s mystery just has to be some sort of kitchen equipment with 3 speeds.
…………and you’re going to love Scotland and the ‘kilts’. I still have fond memories of my visit in the late 1970s. And what do men wear under their kilts? I’ll leave that mystery for you to solve when you get there. Let’s just say I found out ‘first hand’. And I do have a photo of the Loch Ness Monster………well, sort of.
……….and London….mmmm….having lived and worked there….let’s just say it’s a wee bit more expensive now, that when I was there (in the 1970s)……don’t forget a fat wallet.
………and Paris? Well, I don’t want to spoil all the fun. Let’s just say “don’t forget the camera”.
Now I’m getting all teary at the memories.
Hope you have a great (and safe) trip.
“first hand”???? Now you have me really curious :). I was thinking of falling down in the street as they all walk by LOL!
Fortunately I didn’t have to lay down low, in order to get a glimpse (and no, I’m still not going to tell you what is under their kilt).
Hahaha – too funny 🙂
WTH (What the Hell) going to Scotland to look at kilts, you just want to know if they wear anything under them…. You should see me in my Kilt…… it’s made of monkey skins… (Don’t worry I’m kidding) Have a great time on your holiday… the Tattoo I believe you have to see, or so say my Kids that have seen it on a trip over there…
Now for the photo, a TEASMAID.??? there aren’t any of those in Africa, unless dressed like my wife first thing in the morning when she is making my tea….
I say it has to be a power saving shower head….
LMAO!! You know me so well Bulldog :). I would love to see a picture of you in your monkey skin kilt!! Now that would be hot!!
Difficult one, some sort of food processor. Your trip sounds great. If you fancy a stay one hour down the A303 from Stonehenge, come to our B&B. look us up at http://www.lodgehousebandbsomerset.co.uk
Thanks for the offer Kathy, but our hotels are all booked already. We are only in London for a few days, so I told my hubby that we will probably have to go back again. Maybe on my second dream trip we can come to your bed and breakfast :).
Two of us in Somerset reading the mad Canadians blog.
Me, mad?? Mwah ha ha!!!!
Where abouts are you then?
Hope the weather holds out for you. You know the joke about the English summer: Summer was on a Wednesday this year!
Thanks and don’t worry – we both have good rain coats :). I’m planning on bringing the sunshine with us though!
Oh My I don’t know! Is it an old style blender? More importantly have an absolutley amazing time on your trip. I look forward to hearing all about and of course to seeing all your pictures.
Thank you Edith :).
When you pull the cord, you are iradiated with British eccentricity in readiness for your trip. Please don’t turn it up to three. 😛 Really, please !
I hope you have a fantastic trip and that it us all that you hope for. 😀 ~ and if you are looking for mystery photos then you won’t have a problem. I’ve been here for years and the entire place is a mystery to me. Bon Voyage. 😀
Thanks Graham :).
It seems people are more interested in wishing you a good trip than in guessing your mystery photo today! Don’t forget to take a power converter for your electronic devices that have to be charged because they run on a different system of electricity “over there.” I will certainly miss you!
I think the mystery photo is some type of hand blender.
Thanks for the hint – I’ve got two of them ready to be packed :).
I am joining the crowd of well wishers for your fabulous upcoming trip! I know you are going to love it. And I can’t wait to see all your pictures! As for the mystery photo – I think it’s an electric toothpaste dispenser. And I haven’t even read the other guesses! 🙂
Thanks my friend :).
okay–us early risers are ready for the answer Ms World Traveler
Oooh, love my new name :).
it is said with great jealousy
Is the little green monster rearing it’s head? LOL
yes, yes it is–and it ain’t pretty
Good morning everyone :). Although the answers were great as usual, I’m afraid I got you good this week!! We went to visit Mike’s new baby niece last weekend, and this is actually a section of an electronic mobile that hangs over a swinging seat she loves to sit in. Oh well, you can’t be right every week :).
Darn! My youngest is in her 20’s so I guess it’s been too long since I had a baby in the house. Don’t forget to bring me back some English Cadbury (please, I’m on my knees begging, I’ve been a really, really, really good girl, a tear wells up in my eye)
I’ll see what I can do, but the problem is when chocolate is in my hands it always ends up in my belly :).
like, any of us are going to get that–boy oh boy–good thing I like you anyway
Awww shucks :).
Have fun! The photos should be marvelous and the memories too.
Thanks Nancy :). I’m ready to make lots of memories!!
SOOOOOOOOO jealous!!!!!!!! Say hello to the queen for me and ask her if she keeps chocolate in that purse of hers!
I will :). By the way, did you see the Queen’s photo bomb? It was awesome. If you haven’t seen it just Google “Queen photo bomb”.
I did see it…can you imagine owning that photo??
It would be blown up and hung on my wall because it makes me smile every time I look at it :).
So awesome! 🙂
Have a wonderful trip and bring back lots of pictures and stories!
Thank you, and I will :). We leave tomorrow night, and I am soooo excited. It’s still hard to believe that this dream is finally coming true.
Bon voyage aujourd’hui.
Merci mon ami :).
I wish you a wonderful travel to Europe. I just visited Paris – and it was great. Re-visited London some years ago and it’s one of my favourite cities in the world. As to Scotland it’s been too many years since I went there, but it’s a fantastic place to visit as well. I look forward to seeing – and reading – more about your experiences.
Our trip was absolutely perfect!! I hope your vacation was wonderful too :).
It was very much so, thank you.
