Well, last night was fun. NOT! Everything was going great. I had a good day at work (even got taken out for lunch), and then I came home and got laundry and vacuuming done and made a wonderful supper. I was looking forward to an evening in front of the TV watching my favourite shows.
While getting some ingredients for supper out of the fridge I realized that it was not overly cold inside. In fact, I couldn’t even hear the compressor come on after the door had been open for a few minutes. When Mike got home, he took a look, but it was pretty obvious that our fridge was dead, and we had to move the contents to our big freezer and coolers out in the garage. If I look at the bright side, at least the temperature is still cool enough outside that the food won’t spoil.
So, it looks like we are shopping for a new fridge this weekend, and that after I just had to order 4 new tires for my car. Grrrrrr!!! Of course, we could call in a repairman, but when you look at the age of the fridge and the hourly amount that repairmen charge, it just doesn’t seem worth it. Needless to say, the mystery photo was the last thing on my mind last night, but I still managed to come through and keep my record of never missing a week in tact. Now it’s your job to make me laugh so I can forget about my fridge woes. Ok, ready, set, go….

I’d like to suggest that they are the feathers of a swan of woe but they are more likely to belong to your beloved Canada Goose. I fear they are too large to belong to a loon.
Today is sad for me too, it is Mrs BC’s last day at her old job and we are still no closer to finalising the details of the sale of our old home meaning that she will be moving West without me and the boys for at least the next couple of weeks.
Oh no, that is very sad :(. I hope everything comes together for you very soon! TBM and I have both been having bad weeks, and we’ve decided to go drinking. Do you want to come drown your sorrows with us?

So sorry to hear about the fridge. I’m on my way over the eat all the ice cream. And then we, including Bunny and anyone who wants to join, can go drinking. What a crappy week for most of us.

I know it’s the feather that got stuck in the compressor that made the fridge stop working. Sorry to hear about your fridge woes. it’s never fun to have to go shopping for something you never planned for. In any case have a great weekend.

Ooooh, if so, my wings are very pretty :). Wouldn’t it be wonderful to have wings so that in times of trouble we could just take flight and get away from it all. Instead, I will just have to lose myself in a book at lunchtime. That always makes me feel better :).

I think this pic is a feather from a dodo bird and that you’ve gone prehistoric period on us. You probably got the idea from lamenting about your fridge and what it would be like to live in pre-fridge times. 😉
Bah ha ha!! That’s funny, and you made me smile. Thank you :). I don’t think I really want to live pre-fridge time, but it would just be nice if appliances were made well like they used to be when they would last for 20+ years. When you think about it, everything we buy nowadays is just downright crap!!

Good morning everyone :). You are all so smart! I think everyone figured out that it was some type of a feather, and it is in fact a closeup of the side of a mallard duck. Great job everyone! There’s triple chocolate icecream in the freezer, and I think I might have to eat it all to get over how much we spent on a new fridge and stove LOL!! They are pretty though :).

When I bought my previous house in 1986, it came with an old but quite serviceable refrigerator that was of an avocado color (which might let me estimate its age if I cared to do some research). I had to get it repaired once, but it was still working when we left it behind at the time we bought our current house, which will be 10 years ago next week. For all I know, it’s still running in the old house.
That doesn’t surprise me at all. Nothing is made now like it used to be and nothing lasts anymore. No wonder the landfills are getting so filled up!
