When I posted the mystery photo on Friday, I mentioned that we were heading to the Mandarin Restaurant this weekend to celebrate my oldest son, Bryan’s 21st birthday. We had a blast, as some of my Facebook friends can attest to after seeing the photo of me with little drink umbrellas in my hair and a fancy drink in my hand :).
The food was absolutely amazing, and being an all-you-can-eat Chinese buffet left us wishing they had a carry out service to the car because we were too stuffed to walk. Trust me, we sure got our money’s worth out of that buffet. Even though it embarrassed the hell out of my children, I tried to snap a few photos of the restaurant and the food to share with you. The lighting around the buffet was not the greatest and it was very crowded, but I managed to get a few shots while listening to my kids say, “Mom!! Put the camera away!”
You will probably notice a pattern on my plates of food. Although there was a great selection of crab legs, clams, and shrimp among the buffet foods, I am not a seafood eater, so you won’t see any of that smelly stuff on my plate. Plus, many of you know that I am an self-professed chocoholic, and although there were unlimited flavours at the dessert buffet, you will find that everything I chose was from the chocolate family. Bryan’s girlfriend, Cayley, was laughing at me when I bit into the chocolate fudge cake because of the look on my face. I described it as a mouthgasm LOL!!
Without further ado, here are some photos that are sure to make you hungry :). It was kind of fun to experiment with food photography for a change. Ok, gotta go – I feel the need for a snack all of a sudden :).
Yum! Yep, I’m definitely hungry now and those drinks look amazzziingggggg! 🙂
Oh they were :). I want to go back sooooo bad!!
Oh I want to go to that place! The marguerita looks divine. So does all that chocolate. So do the kids. Congratulations to Brian for his birthday and to you and Mikey for being fabulous parents.
Awww, thanks Dor :). You would love The Mandarin – there’s nothing better than all-you-can-eat :).
Yummm! And the day will come when your kids and their friends will be glad that you did not put your camera away sooner!
I think you’re right :). It’s always wonderful to have memories to look back on.
Amazing. I can’t believe you ate all that food – are you sure it was all yours?
Great shots though.
Love the one of Bryan and Cayley – that’s the sort of image that they’ll treasure for years to come.
Yes, I’m proud to say all that food was mine, and I ate everything but a couple of things on my dessert plate which my hubby happily ate for me :). I love the shot of Bryan and Cayley too. It’s so funny because if he is by himself he won’t let me take pictures of him, but if the picture is with Cayley he’s far more cooperative LOL!! They sure are a cute couple aren’t they, but then I guess I’m prejudiced :). Thanks Vicki!
Mmmm you’ve made me hungry. Very handsome boys.
Thank you very much – I think so too :). Sorry I made you hungry, but I just couldn’t resist sharing.
Can I have the drinks and desserts please? Glad all of you had fun.
I knew you would like it :). You should come for a visit to Canada, and I will take you to The Mandarin for sure – my treat!!
Happy Birthday Bryan. What a beautiful buffet. Licks piggy lips. Would love to be there right about now. Of course eating, not on the buffet – snorts. XOXO – Bacon
Thanks for the birthday wishes – I will pass them on :). I am licking my piggy lips too. I want to go back soooooo bad. Oink, oink (wiggles curly tail). LOL!!
Yummy. You described how I feel when I leave the Manderin 🙂 you get some terrific shots despite the poor lighting.
Thanks Edith. It was fun even though my kids found it embarrassing that I was taking pictures of food :).
If you ate all those desserts yourself, no wonder they had to roll you out of there! Looks like a place we used to go to in Winnipeg – called Foody Goody, also Chinese buffet & delicious! You have such cute kids (including Cayley). I also love deviled eggs! Again, we’re alike!
Aww thanks, I will tell them you said so :). And yes, I ate almost everything on that dessert plate. I’m a piggy!
I’m licking the screen of my computer…OH…MY…GOSH……………I’M HUNGRY!!
(Glad you had such a wonderful occasion to celebrate!)
Oh no, now I’m looking at the pictures again and I’m licking the screen. It just doesn’t taste the same though LOL!!
lololol…..It all looked DELICIOUS!
