Oink, Oink!

When I posted the mystery photo on Friday, I mentioned that we were heading to the Mandarin Restaurant this weekend to celebrate my oldest son, Bryan’s 21st birthday. We had a blast, as some of my Facebook friends can attest to after seeing the photo of me with little drink umbrellas in my hair and a fancy drink in my hand :).

The food was absolutely amazing, and being an all-you-can-eat Chinese buffet left us wishing they had a carry out service to the car because we were too stuffed to walk.  Trust me, we sure got our money’s worth out of that buffet.  Even though it embarrassed the hell out of my children, I tried to snap a few photos of the restaurant and the food to share with you.  The lighting around the buffet was not the greatest and it was very crowded, but I managed to get a few shots while listening to my kids say, “Mom!!  Put the camera away!”

You will probably notice a pattern on my plates of food.  Although there was a great selection of crab legs, clams, and shrimp among the buffet foods, I am not a seafood eater, so you won’t see any of that smelly stuff on my plate.  Plus, many of you know that I am an self-professed chocoholic, and although there were unlimited flavours at the dessert buffet, you will find that everything I chose  was from the chocolate family. Bryan’s girlfriend, Cayley, was laughing at me when I bit into the chocolate fudge cake because of the look on my face.  I described it as a mouthgasm LOL!!

Without further ado, here are some photos that are sure to make you hungry :).  It was kind of fun to experiment with food photography for a change.  Ok, gotta go – I feel the need for a snack all of a sudden :).

Oh I want to go to that place! The marguerita looks divine. So does all that chocolate. So do the kids. Congratulations to Brian for his birthday and to you and Mikey for being fabulous parents.

Amazing. I can’t believe you ate all that food – are you sure it was all yours?

    Great shots though.

Love the one of Bryan and Cayley – that’s the sort of image that they’ll treasure for years to come.

    • Yes, I’m proud to say all that food was mine, and I ate everything but a couple of things on my dessert plate which my hubby happily ate for me :). I love the shot of Bryan and Cayley too. It’s so funny because if he is by himself he won’t let me take pictures of him, but if the picture is with Cayley he’s far more cooperative LOL!! They sure are a cute couple aren’t they, but then I guess I’m prejudiced :). Thanks Vicki!

Happy Birthday Bryan. What a beautiful buffet. Licks piggy lips. Would love to be there right about now. Of course eating, not on the buffet – snorts. XOXO – Bacon

  8. Yummy. You described how I feel when I leave the Manderin 🙂 you get some terrific shots despite the poor lighting.

If you ate all those desserts yourself, no wonder they had to roll you out of there! Looks like a place we used to go to in Winnipeg – called Foody Goody, also Chinese buffet & delicious! You have such cute kids (including Cayley). I also love deviled eggs! Again, we’re alike!
