Mystery Photo #120

We will start off today normally with the mystery photo and then see if the rest of the day unfolds the same way.  Yesterday was abnormal, although some might consider it normal for the nasty winter we have been having.

I got up yesterday at my usual time, only to find out that the school buses were cancelled once again!  Looking out the window, it didn’t look overly icky, so both Mike and I started our vehicles to let them warm up as we were also under a wind chill warning. Then one of my coworkers called to tell me that I should stay put because she was on the highway and almost hit someone because the blowing snow was so bad that she couldn’t see much further than the front of her car.  Mike also started down the highway and then called me to tell me that it should have been closed.

Wonderful, I thought.  I can stay home and feed my reading addiction :).  So, I settled on the couch, keeping an eye on the regular Facebook updates about the roads.  After about an hour, everything was totally calm outside, so I decided to head to work. Silly me had forgotten how snow squalls work around here – they come and go!  I did get some work done, but by 2:30 the snow and winds had picked up again and many roads were closed, including the highway I take home.  There had also been a horrible 96 car pileup about an hour away and other smaller accidents in the area.  So, I packed up early and headed home up a backroad, so that I didn’t have to suffer my worst nightmare – getting snowed in at work.  It was a horrendous drive home with my 4-way flashers on the entire way, but I made it safely thank goodness.

So far this morning, it looks like clear skies.  Let’s hope it continues on as a normal Friday because I’ve had enough white knuckle drives for this year.  Time to exercise your brains and give me some awesome guesses for the mystery photo.  Ok, ready, set, go…..

  1. Sounds horrendous Cindy you need to move. I think the picture is of a dishwasher tablet.

    Have a great weekend

  2. TBM says:

Dude I told you to stay home! Be careful out there. Is this the crazy pill you take before hitting the roads?

    • LOL!! It’s really hard though because we have the potential for so much bad weather here in the winter, and you can’t just stay home every day (although trust me I would like to). When I eventually went to work yesterday it was totally clear, and my drive to work was awesome. However, as we all know Mother Nature is a little bipolar this year and flipped her wig again in the afternoon. I just have the policy that if I am feeling uncomfortable about it, I don’t wait for the boss to tell me to go home (which would never happen), I just go. So, when the wind started picking up again, I packed up and headed home. Luckily today looks bright and clear. Phew!!!

  3. You got to stay safe out there Cindy. And stay warm we’re in for another really cold one today. So now onto the Mystery photo. It looks like a rusty nail head in granite.

Hey Dude, what you doing out in weather like that? I told you my spare bedroom was all ready for you and you don”t want to come on over to some sun shine….
So take the Valium you have taken a photo of and suffer….
Looks like something my daughter puts in her dish washer, could be wrong….

    • Bulldog, you have no idea how much I would like to take you up on that offer today. It would be so nice to feel the heat of the sun soaking into my bones right now because I just can’t seem to get warm lately. Today it is -25C which is really friggin’ cold!!!

  5. How did you manage to fit the red planet Mars into a depression in your bathroom countertop?

  6. Map of Time says:

Looks like meat (such as chocolate disguised as pepperoni) stuck in a “pocket/hole” of your counter top.

  7. It’s one of those dishwasher tabs!

  8. grahamatlinc says:

It’s the eye of a great one-eyed clipclop. oooaaargh scary. A do it yourself volcano kit.
    It’s a reset button.

Take care with the snowy stuff 🙂 There are many strange objects still to be photographed and many people to confuse. 🙂

  9. I like Steve’s answer–though it looks like a frozen hamburger to me

  10. Matt Doherty says:

Hi Cindy, my name is Matt Doherty, you may remember that you took pictures of the 2013 Fergus highland Games in August, and you posted some of the images you took of me throwing the hammer? I would like to talk about possibly purchasing the digitals for personal use? And also, I work for the Antigonish Highland Society and would also like to talk about possibly having you down for the Games in July? How can I get in contact with you?

  11. Hi Cindy, sorry to hear of your horrendous drive yesterday, sounds like your weather is still aweful. We are fed up of the rain and wind here, but luckily have had no snow at all this year. sorry but I have no idea what the mystery photo is!!

  12. grahamatlinc says:

Whatever it is, it’s too red for it’s own good. – Out damned spot, out I say. 🙂

  13. benzeknees says:

I think it’s the emergency button on an elevator panel!

  14. beckyday6 says:

A dishy, wishy, washery TABLETY THINGIMIBOB.

So glad to hear you got home safely, sounds like the whole thing was an absolute nightmare! But hey, you are one dedicated worker for attempting to go in and get some work done anyway. I’m keeping my fingers crossed that you get some more terrible weather so that you can stay in and do some more reading. 😉

    • Yes, I should remind my boss of how dedicated I am shouldn’t I? LOL! I was a bad girl and bought 3 new books today, so I intend to do some reading this weekend :).

      • beckyday6 says:

Ooooooh what three books were they? You know I can’t resist asking. 😛

      • Hey, book buddy. I just got back from an afternoon of successful retail therapy :). I thought I would tease you by saying 3 new books, knowing that you would just have to know which ones :). They are all ones that I just have a feeling about, like I did with The Bone Season and Red Rising, where they might not be everyone’s cup of tea, but I had a feeling they were going to be favourites for me, so I had to buy the real books. They are: The Demonologist by Andrew Pyper, The Troop by Nick Cutter, and The Enchanted by Rene Denfeld. The first two are horrors and are by Canadian authors who are going to be in Toronto in April!!! Apparently, Stephen King said that The Troop scared the crap out of him. I would say that is high praise indeed! The Enchanted has been really built up by the publishers and looks quite interesting – different actually. I am reading The Demonologist right now, and it is creepy as hell. I love books like that :). What are you up to?

  15. We have multiple winners this week: Mr. Bunny Chow, Bulldog, photographybyjoylene, and beckyday6. Yes, it is a Finish Powerball – the little dishwasher detergent tablet. Congrats and thanks for the other imaginative guesses as well :). Have a great weekend everyone!

  16. am headed up your way for a wedding–or closer than from here–we are going to a wedding in Kitchener

  17. dorannrule says:

Well I knew this was a Finish Power Ball and here I am too late to be declared a winner! 🙂 Glad you are home safe though!
