Mystery Photo #109

5 DAYS!!!!!  Then it’s Santa time, and I think I’m just about ready :).  The tree is up and decorated, all my shopping is done, most of my wrapping is done, and the turkey is in the freezer.  Phew!!  All I have left to do is laundry and a little house cleaning before my parents arrive for the holidays.  I’m so glad I’m not a last minute shopper because we have two big winter storm systems approaching our area this weekend, one of which might bring freezing rain, and I’m terrified of driving in icy conditions, so you won’t see me leaving my house at all!!  Mother Nature better get it out of her system this weekend though so that my parents can have a safe drive on Monday or Tuesday.  Do you hear me Mother Nature?  I’m watching you!!

I know many of you who have been preparing for Christmas are probably feeling a little tired and brain dead like I am, and you may think you can’t handle the mental exertion that the mystery photo brings, but a little fun is just what you need right now to conquer your holiday stress.  So, sit down for a bit, take a deep breath, and let’s have some laughs. Ok, ready, set, go….

  1. Looks like some fancy Chrimbo ribbon to me. We had a huge hail storm here last night while I was driving, I’m from the tropics I don’t do driving on ice very well. Saying that the last time I drove in a hail storm it wrote off the hire car I was driving, not because I crashed but because the hail was the size of cricket balls (baseballs are similarly sized I didn’t measure) and the car was trashed. It looked like the dimples on a golf ball all over. My parents were driving their own car a couple of minutes ahead and missed the whole thing.

    • Ice and driving make me freak out, which is why my stomach is in knots this morning. We are under a freezing rain warning already, and I still have to go to work today. So far nothing is happening outside, but I know I will be worrying all day at the office :(.

    • TBM says:

It hailed? I was in the City and didn’t notice it. but i was pub hopping.

      • Yeah, we had thunder lightening and at least an inch of hail settled on my moving car in less than 10 minutes. I was terrified, I couldn’t see anything but the tail lights of the car in front of me. Must have been about 19:00 or so.

      • TBM says:

Missed that completely. We were having sushi and left the restaurant around 7:15 and it was only raining. No sign of hail. Glad all of you are okay. I was in a bad car accident during a hail storm when I was much younger–it’s scary stuff.

  2. Vicki (from Victoria A Photography) says:

Dare I complain it was 40 degrees (105F) here in Melbourne yesterday and some country areas were up to 45 (about 113F). It was so damn hot you could………(insert your favourite heatwave analogy). I slept on top of the bed in my ‘birthday suit’ last night. Cool change came during the morning though.

The photo has to be some sort of metallic ribbon?

    • I’ll be on the next plane!! I love the heat :).

      • Melbourne sounds a whole bunch better than what we’ve got Cindy. Let’s go there for Christmas.

      • TBM says:

hey you guys, don’t leave me behind!

      • We’ll all go – what a party it will be!!!! Hey, guess what? The boss has been hiding a bottle of Bailey’s Irish Cream in his office for a while now. It was part of a gift basket received when we moved to the new office, and the 3 of us who showed up for work today decided it would be a good day for him to open the bottle. We actually convinced him, and he poured each of us a small glass – should do this more often because we also convinced him that he should buy us panzerottis for lunch. Wahoooo!!!!

      • TBM says:

What’s panzerottis? And I’ll have some Bailey’s–just hand over the bottle. It might help my editing skills. Or maybe I was drinking when I wrote this.

        Um, is LouAnn okay?

      • Ya, where is LouAnn?? She must be busy getting ready for Christmas. Panzerottis are like folded over and deep fried pizza, but that fell through because the pizza place is too busy to make them today :(. Oh well, maybe I should just have Bailey’s for lunch LOL!!

      • TBM says:

Dude you need to eat something if you’re guzzling Bailey’s. Trust me. Don’t ask how I know, just trust me.

      • I was only kidding – I had just a smidgen :). And I had other food here to eat, so it’s all good. I really need this day to end though!

  3. TBM says:

My guess is fancy ribbon that would give me a headache if I was trying to unwrap a gift quickly.

    • Don’t you hate gifts that are wrapped tightly with ribbon, that you have to fight with to open?? LOL Not saying that’s what it is though. It might actually be my alien friends. Their skin gets all sparkly and glows red at Christmas time you know :).

  4. Looks like a Christmas bow. Wishing you and your family a very merry Christmas Cindy.

  5. beckyday6 says:

Holy crap!!! Five days till Christmas?!?!?!! How did that come round so quickly! There I am working away on revision, I come home for a couple of days and wham, it’s nearly Christmas. Everything still feels so out of kilter, I have so much to do in so little time, lol! I am definitely looking forward to that Christmas dinner though. 🙂

As far as your mystery photo goes I am going to guess that it is the inside anatomy of a book. They have blood circulating and organs too you see, but their insides also glitter because they are so magical!

    • OMG that’s the best answer ever!!!!! What an incredibly awesome way to describe a book :). I love the way you think! Christmas did creep up very stealthily this year didn’t it? I hope you get the rest and relaxation you deserve over the holidays and have a perfectly wonderful Christmas with your family and friends :).

  6. It is the ribbon on the box of chocolates you are sending me for Christmas–and we are all going to raise a glass of Bailey’s and eggnog and enjoy this Christmas season if it kills us–this morning’s events almost killed me but things are back on track–glad to see I was missed! Cheers to you TBM and Ms Looney and Mr. Bunny Chow

  7. benzeknees says:

This is a very pretty bow! How lucky is the person who gets this on their gift – I would sit & admire the bow for a while before opening.

  8. grahamatlinc says:

And the late entry is: Yuletide Wottledot. Originally invented by Walt Disney during his marmite inhaling phase. These days it is mostly used for tying the cook to the stove in a festive manner.

  9. grahamatlinc says:

… and a Very Merry Xmas to all 🙂 🙂

  10. bulldog says:

and to think we haven’t even started to think about the day next week…. don’t have to do a thing, we’re off to Linda’s Sister so she has to do everything, … even use some of the fancy wrapping from the photo… lovely and hot here… great storms that come toss the water and go … come on over you that are getting cold… we have a big swimming pool… bring the bikinis…

  11. Good morning everyone :). I finished my wrapping last night, and because of the nasty weather here I plan to stay in all weekend and just finish decorating and cleaning for the big day!! Cross your fingers that this stupid weather smartens up so that my parents can get here safely on Monday! As for the mystery photo, the book lover in me has to pick Becky’s answer as my favourite (read it above – it’s awesome) and I think my new favourite word is wottledot which was Graham’s answer, but actually most of you were right that it is a closeup of a fancy Christmas bow. I can’t wait to watch everyone in my house open their presents this year because I know they are going to be really surprised about a few of the gifts, and yes I’m excited about opening presents too :). Mostly though I’m just excited about having everyone together! I hope all of you, my wonderful blogging family, have a happy, relaxing, love filled Christmas (or whatever you and yours celebrate). Enjoy :).
