Although I don’t care for what comes after Fall, I always look forward to getting out with my camera to capture the colours. Mike and I love to just jump in the car, pick a direction, and drive until we find the perfect, brilliant colours. Unfortunately, this year has been a disappointment. It has been a beautiful mild Fall, but the trees have been dull compared to other years. Not only that, but it seemed like a great deal of the leaves had fallen before they even started to change, and every time I had a chance to go out it was rainy, foggy, or both.
I did, however, get this single shot one day before the rains began, and I really quite like it. At least I wasn’t skunked :).

Yes, subtle is nice, but some years it is so brilliant that it takes your breath away. Too bad I didn’t get to experiment more that particular day. We were on our way somewhere, so I thought I would stop again on the way home, but by that time it was pouring rain.
Totally agree on the weather. This is a great shot with wonderful contrast. The barn fits perfect in the scene!

That’s a great shot. I noticed a bunch of leaves on the ground on my morning walk here. We’ve had quite a bit of wind and so many of the leaves are gone before they changed. Going to be a bit of a disappointment this year I think.
Glad you liked it :). We have had quite a bit of rain the last few weeks too, and we are wondering if that has something to do with the lack of colour this year. Too wet maybe?
I loved the three layers of color: the flowers in the forefront, the red and grey house and the trees in the background.

You’ve caught some terrific woods there, back behind the barn. I hope the rains don’t take all of the rest of your leaves down. We just drove up north this afternoon/evening, and I can’t wait to see what’s left of ours when the light returns tomorrow morning.

You know it Cindy. For me I know that if I don’t get the photo I want this year, there’s always next. I had a shot list a mile long for this fall, but with the best light going so quickly at each end of the day, a family at home, and only so many days of peak color, it just didn’t happen. I barely scratched the surface of that list. Next year, or maybe the year after, I’ll eventually get them. Most of what I like to photograph isn’t going anywhere. And I’m very patient.
