I have a little bit of a dilemma this week. Do I make the mystery photo difficult and risk somebody “getting back at me” (which was actually a good thing wasn’t it? LOL :)) or do I make it easy so that all of my blogging friends stay happy? When I consider these two possibilities, all I keep thinking is that it wouldn’t be near as much fun if I made it easy because it’s when I post a tricky mystery photo that we all have the most fun with the comments going back and forth. I don’t know about you, but it makes my Friday and keeps me smiling all day :).
So, hard it is!! Show me watcha got? Come on, you can do it – I know you can! Ok, ready, set, go……
It sure looks like the old fashioned pencil sharpener I used in school.
Whoa, you ninja!
Yup. Looks like an old fashioned pencil sharpener to me too
Good guess Andy.
I wouldn’t have guessed myself, but now that Andy has mentioned the old-fashioned pencil sharpener (which I’ve used when young-er), I’ll have to agree.
I’m with Andy.
okay i did not look at anyone else’s answer–this is where I sharpen my eyeliner and eyebrown pencils but most people are dull and just sharpen their pencils here–
LOL :). You always crack me up!
eyebrow not eyebrown
Eeesh that is hard! I was going to go with a close up of an iron but what Andy says seems right, you can see bits of coloured pencil I believe?
playin’ it safe huh Cindy? Good girl.. you know i am following your blog(discreetly .) i know what it is, but cannot reveal the answer til tomorrow…do not want to spoil it for everyone…haha
Irene, my soulmate, you are up to your tricks again–you know what this is but you are going to make Ms. Loony work for it
Me thinks that you two together are Trouble with a capital “T” :).
we most definitely are
Yep Malta for a week of sun, sea and wine. Head on over to Facebook there are already a couple of phone pictures from last night.
I will
I was trying to Figure it out before I
looked at the comments. But I just couldn’t. You got me stumped but I agree with Sandy it looks like an old pencil sharpener.
This I remember as if it was yesterday… school pencil sharpener…
Funny story!!!! I just have to share this because normally I’m not really good with quick comebacks, but today I nailed it :). We have a pretty easygoing atmosphere here at work, and there is a lot of humour and sarcasm that goes back and forth between the girls and the boss. Well, the boss has been cranky as hell this week, and we’ve all pretty much had enough. So, this morning I told him that since he had been so cranky this week he should go buy us a treat from the doughnut shop. He said he couldn’t because he had clients coming in, and then he started to talk to me about a file he needed me to work on. Long story but during the conversation he called me a troll. That’s mean right? So, I walked away while he was still talking to me. Now, you have to know that he has a history of walking away while we are talking to him and it drives us crazy, so when he said “I wasn’t finished talking to you”, I said “Oh, do you like how that makes you feel?” LMAO!!!! Oh ya, chalk one up for me :). And yes, I still have my job.
Hurrah for you Cindy! I hope he laughed. 🙂
Well, he did smile. Then I got him again even better! He was teasing me, telling me about this delicious cheesecake he made, and I asked him why he didn’t bring it in for us. He said it was for friends that were coming over for dinner tonight, and I responded, “Oh, you have friends?” LOL!!!!!!! I know, I’m bad.
I am afraid if anyone had ever called me a troll–I would find a bridge and push them off of it (and not the one I live under)
That’s ok – I got him back a couple of times yesterday!! 🙂
As soon as I saw the photo I thought “pencil sharpener,” mainly because of all the graphite marks around the edge… but then I thought, nah, too easy. But when I read the other comments I realized that is what it had to be.
As for your boss, sometimes you have to risk speaking your mind in order to keep from screaming!
And it was soooo much fun 🙂
Looks like an old dial telephone – missing the dials! On the other hand, you are too young to remember old dial phones. Hmmmmm. As usual, I don’t have a clue! 🙂 ~Dor
Actually, I do remember dial phones :). My kids, on the other hand, wouldn’t have a clue.
Gonna go with pencil/crayon sharpner, as well.
Sorry I’m late but we’re in Malta for the week and were travelling. I’m sticking with the consensus that it’s a pencil sharpener. Have a good week and good on ya for sticking it to the man.. xx
Malta?!?! You lucky dog 🙂
I’m guessing pencil sharpener.
Is it a pencil sharpener? Whatever it is it’s very well used!
Nice image! I’m going with pencil sharpener too.
Wow, and I thought this was going to be a hard one!! For everyone who said pencil sharpener, you are absolutely right. The law firm I work for has been in the same old, old building since the 60’s, and trust me not much has moved or changed inside since then LOL!! Great job everyone – you see, because I make the mystery photos hard you are all getting smarter and smarter each week :).
hey, I like your analysis–whether it is true or not is another story
😉
Well “Duh”,,,I’m so STUPID!
No you’re not!!!!
🙂
Just goes to show how different one person’s perception can be from another’s: you thought this object would be hard to identify, but most people (including me, I’ll add) recognized it right away.
I know :). That happens all the time, but that adds to the fun for me because it’s interesting to see which ones people can figure out.
