Wow, I can’t believe I haven’t posted anything since last week’s mystery photo! I’m a baaaaaad girl!! As I mentioned then, it was a long weekend for us, and I have to say it was absolutely perfect in every way. I haven’t felt so relaxed and happy after a weekend in a long time.
We decided to take the plunge and plant all of our gardens, so on Saturday I spent the morning at a garden centre picking out some annuals to plant around my perennials in my front gardens and to fill my planters on the deck. Now you have to understand something – I am not really into gardening, so I basically find flowers that I think look pretty, and then I ask the experts at the store if they will withstand the direct sunlight that my gardens get. I found everything that I needed, and after leaving the store I decided that I couldn’t head home without visiting the Chapters bookstore that was close by. Ahhhh heaven :). I wandered around to my heart’s content checking out all of the new books without ever having to hear “can we leave yet?”. I had a gift card leftover from Mother’s Day, so I picked out a book I had been reading great reviews about and headed to Tim Horton’s for lunch and a little reading before heading home.
Saturday afternoon and all day Sunday we worked on the gardens. I reshaped them because the lawn had encroached over the winter, planted all of my flowers, and spread mulch so that I don’t have to spend my entire summer weeding LOL! Meanwhile Mikey planted his whole veggie garden and his pumpkin patch. It was hot and sunny, and we enjoyed every moment of being outside after being cooped up all winter. After the grass was cut and fertilized we decided it was time for some fun, so we all hopped in the car and went to see the movie Star Trek Into Darkness which was awesome!
Monday was the best day of all because after getting so much work done, I didn’t feel at all guilty about reading all day long in the sunshine, and I actually read an entire novel without a break. As my blogging friend LouAnn would say, it was total bliss :). Unfortunately, the weather has gone downhill since then and we actually have a little snow this morning (cross your fingers for our tomato and green pepper plants) , but I look forward to many more wonderful weekends like that throughout the summer.
Now on to our Friday fun. It’s mystery photo time, and after how smart everyone was last week, I can’t wait to hear what answers you come up with this time. Maybe we’ll even have some new vistors join in the fun this week. Don’t be shy everyone – give it your best shot!
hmm- I need to think on this (actually I need to wait and read some other answers and copy one of them)- good morning sunshine
Right back at ya sunshine – you always manage to make me smile 🙂
Ok, I think I might start crying. It is actually snowing out right now, and my neighbour’s roof is white :(.
Some sort of carved finale, it could be a table or chair leg but I suspect it’s more likely to be a pepper grinder. Sorry to hear about your weather it’s freezing (by my standards anyway) here in London town.
Have a great weekend
You too Bunny – how’s the potty training going? For your kids I mean LOL!!!
Uh, like LouAnn I need to wait and cheat. Snow again! Can’t believe it. Raining in London today and not warm at all. I think spring and summer are taking the year off.
You guys are too funny :). Yup, Mike just phoned to tell me that he is driving through constant snow, and to think that we were laying on the deck in shorts and tank tops just a few days ago. It is going to take everything I have in me today just to walk out my front door :(. Oh well, it’s almost the weekend, and I’m excited because I got the new Dan Brown book (Inferno) in the mail yesterday, and I can’t wait to get home tonight to read, read, read :). And, at least I know that all the hard gardening work is behind us! What are you up to this weekend?
We have a long weekend and the French Open starts on Monday, which we got tickets for. We are taking the train and spending a couple of days there. I’m cleaning like mad today to prepare for our pet sitter. I don’t understand how filthy our place can get in such a short time.
Enjoy Inferno. I’ve only read Da Vinci’s Code by him. Should I read more?
Sounds like fun – have a great time! As for Dan Brown’s books, I have read Da Vinci Code, Angels and Demons, and The Lost Symbol, and I loved them all. Basically, if you liked the Da Vinci Code, you will like the others :).
Cool! Thanks. has it stopped snowing?
Yup, thank goodness, but it’s still bloody cold. Brrrrr!!!
Sounds like you had a heavenly
weekend. I’m going to guess it’s a Peppermill. Am i right?
My first guess would have been peppermill but it looks too thin–you haven’t taken part of the railing from your staircase and used it to beat your husband over the head again, have you? Or is it a table leg? No snow here, but yesterday in less than an hour it cooled down from 24 to 11 (pretty good for someone versed in farenheit–I will get this celcius thing down some day–I know I have some mispelled words here–please forgive me). There is nothing better than looking forward to a good book–especially since I am not trying to lose 8 pounds, and must forego too much chocolate!
I am down 15 pounds and have really cut back on the chocolate, but I still treat myself now and again. If I totally cut out all of the good stuff, I will fail, that’s all there is to it, so I am happy with losing slowly :). And no, I have not had to beat my husband over the head lately LOL! He’s been pretty well behaved!
ha ha – you do not look like a husband torturer–I think having a little of the good stuff is a good reward–I have been rewarding myself too much lately though!
One of the girls at the office here was just torturing me with a bag of cookies. I told her she was mean because she knows I’m dieting, and she kept saying “yummy cookies, chocolate chips, peanut butter….”. I think I should beat on her!!
use your mystery photo– she is being a very bad girl!
not not—now
a chess pawn…
OH that’s a good guess!
A back roller/massager thingy. 🙂 For bad backs after all that gardening.
Hmmm, I’m going to go with two guesses. A posh salt or pepper holder thingy…..or the end of a curtain rail, because mine at home look like that lol. Probably sounds weird, but that’s all I got!
Looks like part of a drawer pull to me.
Candle holder, would be my guess.
I hope your plants survived this ridiculous weather! It looks like a drawer handle to me too.
Drum roll please………..and the winners are…………Jeff Sinon and Patricia Sands. And the crowd goes wild!!!! Yes, it is the drawer pull from my china cabinet. That was a good one eh? I knew it would produce lots of different answers. Congrats Jeff and Patricia!! And everyone else, don’t give up – I know you all love a challenge :).
I had the right answer but I’m only just now reading the post. P.S. I don’t cheat! Did you miss my guess this week I missed? I usually give it a go & I don’t know how I missed it.
Yes, I missed you soooo much :), and I knew you would have gotten it right!
