I have been watching the weather for this weekend all week. My parents were coming to visit for Thanksgiving, and I really wanted to get them out to see the Fall colours before all of the leaves were gone. However, the weatherman was forecasting rain for both Saturday and Sunday and even the possibility of s*&@. I’m sorry, but I just can’t say the word yet :(.
We had our Thanksgiving dinner on Saturday, so yesterday was the day for a drive, and Mother Nature actually cooperated fairly well after all :). It was definitely cloudy and cold, but we managed to spend the whole day capturing the colours without getting rained on once, even though it threatened a few times! The colours were brilliant once again this week, but after some very windy days lately, the one thing we noticed was how many leaves have fallen, which has resulted in a beautiful carpet of colours. I took hundreds of photos, some of which I will share with you over the next few days, but I thought I would begin with the photos looking down at the ground cover at Eugenia Falls near Flesherton, Ontario.
I love the colours of Autumn… specially those depicted in your beautiful photos… as we head into Summer, the greens and welcome flowers are so great, but there is something about the Autumn colours that is so much more capturing…
Thanks Bulldog! I think Fall is definitely the best season for photography. Every time I go out for a drive, I am in awe of the beautiful colours surrounding me! If only it could stay like this and not progress to the next icky season :). Oh well, winter can provide some great photography opportunities too – I just don’t like driving in the snowy conditions :(.
I want to walk through the leaves. I’m glad it worked out. You can send the S@&% my way, but not everyone here will be happy with me so don’t tell.
It’s funny you should mention about walking through the leaves because when I was sure nobody was looking I ran through the leaves like a little child, shuffling my feet, just to hear the wonderful sounds they make :). And I will definitely send the S@$% your way because I don’t want it!! LOL
Great! I got some new warm sweaters and I’m ready to wear them.
Such magnificent colors!!!! I’m heading to WV on Wed, and hoping colors have turned there as well. Not here yet, though…
I’ll cross my fingers for you!! Enjoy your trip :).
Thanks, I’ll be rock climbing!
Wow, you must be in much better shape than me :).
Oh my, how very, very beautiful! I’ve got a friend that would be immediately inspired to start a new quilt if she saw these pictures. Really special Cindy! 🙂
Thank you so much :). It’s nice to be able to share this beauty with my blogging buddies!
Wow these are amazing! I want to go play in all the lovely leaves now!!! 😛
LOL!! I ran through them – it was fun :). Thanks Becky – I’m glad you liked them!
OMG! These are phenomenal photos! Nothing like that here yet.
Awww, thank you Dor :). It was a great way to spend the day with my parents!
I especially liked the colorful leaves on the ground. They must have just fallen, because I usually think of the leaves on the ground as brown and dried up.
I know – that’s why I couldn’t stop taking pictures of them :). They were just so beautiful and vibrant. Thanks for visiting my blog!!
gorgeous — so beautiful it looks unreal
Thanks! The colours are just so amazing this year that it’s hard to go for a drive and keep your eyes on the road :).
These are so pretty, it’s unfortunate they don’t last longer!
I know! There are really only a couple of weeks when the colours are the most vibrant, and you just have to hope that you don’t have too many obligations during that time that keep you from getting out and exploring :).
Amazing colors! So beautiful I would play with those leaves like a child 🙂
It did kind of take me back to my childhood. I wanted to rake the leaves into a pile and then jump in them :).
