The great (or not so great in size) pumpkin patch

My parents arrived for a Thanksgiving visit yesterday, and we had a lot of catching up to do last night, so my post will be short and sweet today. My hubby, Mikey, grows a pumpkin patch each year, and it is usually his pride and joy.  However, the extremely dry summer this year wreaked havoc with his babies, and they all look like preemies.  Mike and his buddy at work usually have a friendly competition to see who can grow the biggest pumpkin, but this year there was nothing bigger than a volleyball.  Plus, we usually have enough to give them away to all the neighbours, but the photo below shows the extent of the crop this year :(.  I still had a lot of fun photographing them though, and NONE of these shots were taken in “auto” mode!!  Yayyy me :).

  1. I love each and every pumpkin – even little ones – Happy Thanksgiving.

    • The little ones are very cute :). Happy Thanksgiving to you too! We are having our dinner today so that my son can go to his girlfriend’s Thanksgiving dinner tomorrow. I didn’t want to do it on Monday since they would have to be driving back to school. It’s so nice to have Bryan home. I kept hugging him every time I walked by him last night, and he didn’t even get mad LOL!!

  2. I love pumpkin patches. Have a great thanksgiving Cindy.

Happy Canadian Thanksgiving! Sorry your pumpkins weren’t everything you hoped they would be, but they were still pretty

  4. This sounds like such a fun activity!!! I don’t think I’ve actually ever seen a decent pumpkin patch!!! 🙂 **

    • Most definitely!! My parents are visiting and we are driving around today showing them the Fall colours. I have been using Manual all day, and I am really excited by the results!! More photos for my blog :). Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family too!

All the more to be ‘thankful’ for – despite the drought, you’ve had s small crop of pumpkins! Love the photos! 🙂

    • Thank you!! I was just glad that we had some pumpkins because our neighbour’s granddaughter has made it a tradition to come to our house each year to pick her own pumpkin from our pumpkin patch. She would have been soooo disappointed if there were none for her to pick from :(. She really didn’t seem to mind that they were small this year – she was just happy to get a pumpkin :).

WhooooHoooo! They may not be the GREAT Pumpkin, but they have the most wonderful color! Tell Mikey he’s a winner in my book. 🙂

Oh my goodness, this will be Mikey’s favourite comment ever for sure because his pumpkins are like his babies :). Thanks Dor!
