Where’s the pot of gold?

As you know my youngest son turned 16 this week, which is a pretty special birthday, so we asked him what he wanted to do for his big day.  He decided on dinner at the Mandarin, which is a very popular buffet style Chinese food restaurant.  The food is amazing there, and we all ate so much that we really wished that they had carry out service – what I mean by that is, “I’m too full to move, so can you carry me to my car?” LOL

The weather man had been predicting huge amounts of rain this weekend, and for once he was right on the ball.  It started Friday night and rained off and on all day Saturday, creating some very intense skies with beautiful cloud formations.  On the way home from the Mandarin restaurant I was mesmerized by the sky.  Unfortunately, I didn’t have my DSLR with me, so I just started snapping shots out of the window of the moving car with my little point and shoot camera that I always keep in my purse.  I will have more photos to show you tomorrow, but I have one special shot that I wanted to share with you right away.

It was getting dark and you could tell rain was imminent, so I didn’t have much of a chance to experiment.  I simply snapped this shot and hopped back in the car.  I wanted to run through the field to find the pot of gold, but everyone wanted to get home, so I was outvoted.  The sky is a little grainy in this shot and it’s definitely not the best photo I’ve ever taken, but I still think it’s a beautiful site.  I hope you like it too and that it brightens your day :).
