My little buddy

Sunshine + Fresh Air + Hot Temperatures = Feel like blogging??  Umm, not so much.  So far I have not missed a single day of blogging since I started Photos From The Loonybin, but with our temperatures soaring into the 30’s this week, I am spending as much time as I possibly can outside on my deck reading and not as much time on my laptop working on my blog.  As you may recall from my winter posts, I am a summer girl through and through, and because I hate winter so much I savour every moment of hot weather that we have!!  Not to worry though – I’m still going to try and post every day, but they may be a little more short and sweet than usual.

I introduced you to my son’s pet leopard gecko in a previous post, but I had to “babysit” him the other weekend when Bryan was at his girlfriend’s house, so I took him outside for a photo op.  It was tricky because it was midday and far too sunny for photos plus he’s not very good at staying still, but I really love this shot because it shows how snakelike his eyes are and the beautiful colours and patterns on his skin.  He’s my little buddy!  Isn’t he cute? 🙂

  1. Excellent image Cindy. His eye is so perfectly sharp. He’s not looking to happy with you though 🙂

Cute? Sweet? Hmmmmm. Interesting maybe – from a distance? 🙂

    • Oh Dor, you would love him honestly! He is really cute, he doesn’t bite, and he doesn’t make any mess. He even picks one spot in his cage to poop so he’s easy to clean up after. I was kind of uncertain when we first got him, but now I take him out of his cage and let him crawl all over me. Sometimes he just sits on my chest while I watch TV because I think he can feel my heartbeat and he likes the warmth :).

Enjoy the summer heat – it is so short isn’t it? Before you know it we will experience cooler days …

Cute creature! Never seen one like it before. 🙂

    • Yes, he really is! You know what I find really fascinating about him. He sheds his skin about once a month, and I love to watch him. When he pulls it off his leg, it’s like he’s pulling off a glove because you can see all the little finger shapes. It looks like hard work, but he yanks and pull with all his might and gets it done in no time, and he eats his skin as he goes because apparently it’s full of vitamins!!

All Right! Branching out into wildlife photography, nice!

    • Yes, as I was crawling through a desert in southern Central Asia, having run out of water in the extreme heat, I came across this rare leopard gecko! He looked ready to pounce on me, so I snapped the shot and ran. Wait…that makes me sound wimpy. How about, he looked ready to pounce on me, so I snapped the shot and then captured him and took him home to be my son’s pet. LOL!!! Yup, it’s Friday and my brain is fried – need the weekend to come now!!

  7. Now *that* is one photo of one cool gekko!

    • Zipper the gecko says thank you 🙂 and thanks for visiting my blog. I just checked out yours and clicked on “follow” right away. Your photos are incredible!! I look forward to reading your future posts.
