Mystery Photo #28

As you know, last weekend I was at a photography show in Toronto, and one of the seminars that I attended focused on macro photography.  The speaker showed photo after photo of everyday objects shot using teleconverters or extension tubes which allowed him to get even closer to the subject.  Extension tubes are now on my wish list because they are relatively inexpensive compared to other camera accessories, but because I just got a new camera I guess I will have to wait a while before I make that purchase :).

I did, however, get many ideas for the mystery photo, which I needed because you guys are just getting way too smart for me.  So, let’s try this one.  Although not quite as sharp as I would like it to be, it was the best I could do.  It’s a little bit tricky, and I can see the smoke coming out of your ears already trying to figure out what it is.  Ok, ready, set, go….

Once again, you’ve got me! Some kind of lock, maybe? 🙂

    Part of a crescent wrench…

  4. Friday, Friday, Friday, yay. now firstly it’s obviously some kind of gearing for adjusting something and my guess would be that it’s a shifting spanner.

now back to the subject of extension tubes, if you’re brave enough to go full manual and experiment a lot then you can get some awesome deals on perfectly serviceable ones. and because I’m nice I even priced them up in Canadian$ for you.

    • Wowwwww, that is so cheap, and the reviews are excellent. I have never shot full manual, but I think I’m up for the challenge, so I might just have to order them at that price. Thank you so much for bringing this to my attention. You are a very very nice person :). By the way, the one review said it was very important to use off camera lighting. Do you agree with that statement?

      • you certainly need a lot of light but so far I’ve gotten away with natural sunlight, I wouldn’t want to try with on camera flash indoors though.

Dunno. So I’ll say it’s some kind of grinder.

  6. looks like an adjustable wrench… 😉

Looks to me like an adjustable wrench.

  8. Hmmm the inside of a meat grinder?

  9. Northern Narratives says:

    You stumped me 🙂

  10. Jeff Sinon says:

Adjustment screw on a crescent wrench. I just knew the past 30 years of turning wrenches for a living would come in handy! 😉

  11. Well, it is obvious that my loyal mystery photo players are becoming smarter and smarter as time goes on. It is in fact an adjustable wrench, so we have quite a few winners this week, and I learned something new from all of you as well because I didn’t know it could also be called a crescent wrench or a shifting spanner. So, we are all getting smarter :). Thanks to everyone for playing and have a fabulous weekend!!

  12. I have a great idea. How about we can email you some pictures you could use? Like a guest mystery picture poster. LOL. 😀
