The weather has been very hot and humid over the last week, and we all know what happens when a cold front follows such weather – storms!! I love to watch storms, and we even have a weather station in the house so we can monitor the conditions.
Yesterday at work someone happened to walk by a window and notice that the sky was becoming quite ominous. I grabbed my camera and went outside to check it out, and yes the sky was black, the wind had picked up, and the temperature had dropped. I got one shot before the skies opened up, and this is it:
Pretty awesome right? I love the way the clouds seem to swirl around the small spot of light in the middle. A wicked downpour followed, but believe it or not there wasn’t much in the way of thunder and lightening (darn!). We really needed the rain, but unfortunately the storm skipped the town where I live, so the plants still needed to be watered when I got home :(.
WOW!!!! 🙂
I know! I really expected a huge thunderstorm looking at that, but it was just a really good downpour with wind. The clouds were so dark!!
Oooooooohhh! 🙂
It’s really cloudy this afternoon too, and I took a lot of pictures on the way home from work, so I may have more cloud photos to post this week. 🙂
Still loving the camera?? Do you think a rebel T2i would do o.k.? IF….I were to get one?
You know, I’m not really the one to ask because I am truly a beginner, but I think the T2i and the T3i are really considered entry level cameras compared to your D300. I guess it depends on what you are looking for :).
A beauty of a storm and you’ve captured the ominous threat!
I get excited when I see a storm coming because I love taking pictures of clouds :).
You are a grand photographer! In fact, you are so grand I am naming you for the One Lovely Blog Award! Check things out about it on my new blog – http://countryliving4beginners.wordpress.com . Luv, Dor 🙂
Awwww, thank you Dor. You are a grand friend!! 🙂
Aaaaah – I love clouds!!!! 🙂 **
Me too!! 🙂
Love the drama…unfortunate that you didn’t get rain for your plants. Yesterday I thought it was going to rain in London but a few drops fell and then I had to get the watering tin our for my herbs. Hopefully next time.
It’s been the same here for a couple of days. All drama in the sky but no action and it has gotten really cool again – too cold to sit out on my deck and read :(.
love it
Thanks! 🙂
