Mystery Photo #25

The mystery photo.  What began as a one post random idea has become quite popular, and I am pleasantly surprised.  I have people who regularly look forward to it every week and tell me it’s so much fun guessing and reading other people’s guesses, and one of my friends on Facebook seems to get quite obsessed with figuring it out each week LOL.  I even have friends and family who suggest ideas for the mystery photo.

So, let’s see how smart my blogging family is this week.  You may not believe me after looking at the photo, but I think I might win this one.  Ok, ready, set, go……..

Looks like a checker board pattern painted on concrete. Perhaps a garage / service station floor?

  2. I reckon that it looks like some sort of roadmarkings but like Jeff above I suspect it’s painted on concrete.

  3. zelmare says:

Yip, I concur – black & white squares painted on concrete, A floor, kitchen or restaurant.

  4. J. G. Burdette says:

    Ditto.

  5. TBM says:

    Laundry room floor

  6. Northern Narratives says:

I think it’s part of an old sign. I think it is metal.

  7. zannyro says:

Floor tile with oatmeal spilled on it.

I have no better suggestion than those above, but I do like the photo. The skewed perspective, the nice composition with the corners meeting at the lover left side, the strong graphic and the worn surface all makes for a very interesting photograph.

  9. OK, the results are in. You are all pretty smart this week in that pretty much everyone figured out that it was a checker board pattern painted on concrete. However, nobody figured it out exactly. It is actually a life size chess board painted on the concrete in the city square in Windsor, Ontario. I saw people playing with huge chess pieces on a board like this in Amsterdam, and it was really cool to watch. By the way, most original answer of the day goes to Suzanne who thought it was oatmeal spilled on floor tiles!! 🙂
