This is a quickie post today because hubby and I are away for the weekend in Windsor, Ontario. Mike works for a company that builds and installs Florida rooms, mostly in trailer parks, and he had to do a couple of quotes in Leamington, Ontario, so I decided to tag along so we could make a weekend out of it. It’s about 4 hours away, and I was dying to take a good long road trip in my new baby. Plus I knew it would provide me with different photo opportunities, so hopefully I will have some new material to share with you next week.
This photo was taken on a vacation we took in Florida at the end of 2005 long before I purchased by Canon Rebel XSi. I have always been a Canon girl, but I just don’t remember which Canon I had at this point. All I know is that I only had the built in zoom, and I’m pretty sure I didn’t own a tripod back then. This shot was therefore handheld and taken from quite far away while sitting on my parents’ sailboat at the marina in Titusville, Florida, and I just zoomed in as far as I could. In post processing, I then cropped it and was quite amazed with the clarity that I achieved. What a beautiful bird!!
It really is a great photo!
Why thank you!! So, how goes the driving this weekend? My son has been out in his car all weekend and my husband and I are away for the weekend (4 hours away), so my worry level has been even higher!!
well, lots of rain and we’ve all been together and running late, plus a bit of disrespect going on. In other words, hubby and I have been doing the driving! :-). I can imagine being away would add another level of stress. Friday I went to he school to let on of he twins drive home and they texted me they were riding home with Bugs. I sorta freaked out and thought, well, I’ll follow them, but that didn’t work because they got stuck behind the buses. I felt a little like a stalker! Lol…
I can’t stop laughing!! I can just picture you weaving in and out of cars, hunched down, trying not to get caught!! Awesome! 🙂
Great shot Cindy!!! 🙂 **
Thanks Xandre! He’s a cutie isn’t he? 🙂
This photograph is so perfect, the pelican is almost alive! I know cause I grew up in Florida. I was always awed by this majestic bird and how graceful it is. You definitely have an “eye” for photographic art, but you are inspiriting me to get more attached to my Canon sure shot. It takes so long to load photos onto the blog that I have been leaning toward the old Kodak again.
Thanks!! Isn’t that the best part about blogging? We all inspire each other! It used to take a long time for me to upload photos to my blog, but now that I am resizing my photos for the internet, they upload very very quickly. 🙂
Will look around for how to do that.. resize for the internet.. any (simple) suggestions?
I use Photoshop to resize my photos, but there are many programs you can use. I have been resizing them to 600 pixels wide and a resolution of 72. They load very quickly now! 🙂 Let me know if you have any trouble figuring out how to do this.
Gorgeous capture!
Thank you! I really appreciate that. 🙂
What a character! Great shot.
Thanks TBM! On the one hand he looks so majestic, while on the other hand I could see him breaking out into comical song and dance like in a Disney movie!!
he seems to be very pleased with himself!!! Lovely shot! 🙂
I never thought of it that way, but he does look pleased with himself. He must have been successful catching supper that day, and now he’s content. 🙂
