You may recall that this past Christmas my husband made a leap into the world of electronics when he received his first digital camera. This is the man who only a couple of years ago didn’t even know how to turn a computer on let alone what LOL meant! The boys and I are certified geeks and had pretty much given up on Mikey joining us in the world of technology, but believe it or not a miracle has occurred. My husband now has his own laptop, knows how to surf the net, regularly sends text messages, expertly uses a GPS, and as you will soon see takes excellent digital photos.
Yesterday was his 50th birthday, so I guess that’s proof that you are never too old to learn. I even had to buy him a “techy bag” for his birthday, so that he could keep all of his electronic gizmos and cords organized. Back in February (see It’s A Miracle) I posted one of Mike’s first photos from his new camera from a walk I convinced him to take out behind our house to try out his camera. Back them he still wasn’t showing a great deal of interest in his new camera. Much to my amazement, he came home from work one day last week, having taken a whole bunch of photos in Goderich, Ontario, and asked me how to transfer them to his laptop. As the photos appeared on the screen my mouth dropped – he took some amazing shots!
So, it’s official. The boys and I have successfully transformed Mikey into a geek. Yayyy!!! Here is a sampling of his photos. They were taken near the Sifto Salt Mine where a tornado came in off of Lake Huron last year and devasted the town of Goderich.
I am impressed. Good job Mikey 🙂
Mikey says thanks Judy! He is loving the comments. He came home from work today, and the first thing he wanted to know was if anyone said anything about his pictures. 🙂
Great pictures Mikey! Good eye!
Heather, you know Mikey so beware of his reply. He wants to know if you are interested in getting together for a nude shoot?!?! LOL
Nice pictures!
Thanks Colline. I think these comments are going to give him the confidence to keep learning.
He has a good eye. So, when is he starting his blog 😀
His exact response when I read your comment was, “I’m thinking I need some live models now – maybe I’ll advance to some nude female photography!!” LOL 🙂 Yes, my husband is cracked in the head! Maybe a blog will come one day for Mikey, but I’m just so proud of him right now for what he has accomplished so far.
Who would have the last laugh when he becomes a famous fashion photographer? 😉
Fashon photographer? He doesn’t want them to have clothes on!!!! LOL
be careful, next thing you know you will have dueling blogs!
I can’t even convince him to get Facebook, so I don’t think I have to worry about him having his own blog yet. One step at a time LOL!!
Holy smokes!! Well done Cindy – turning someone into a techy!!! & seems he fits right in!! Kudos!! 🙂 **
It’s a miracle transformation!! I am still amazed when I get a text message from him. A few months ago he wouldn’t even attempt any of these things. I guess I’m a good teacher right? LOL
Congratulations to your hubby on his big birthday. And my goodness, what beautiful pictures! Really impressive. 🙂
Thank you for the birthday wishes and the compliments on his photos. It’s so funny how he comes home from work now and asks if anyone else commented on his photos. I think he’s finally starting to understand why I like my blogging friends so much. 🙂
🙂 I think he’ll be joining us soon…
Tell Mike good job…but I’m confused, he has a bag that organizes stuff…what is that about?
LOL!!!!! You see what a good influence I am?!? To tell you the truth, I almost fell over when he said he wanted a “techy bag”. I said, “who are you and what have you done with my husband?” 🙂
first one is my favourite
Yes, I like that one too – I always love vanishing point shots! Thanks for the comment. 🙂
