It’s amazing how you can visit a place over and over during your lifetime and still not know something about it. When we were booking our hotel room for our trip to Niagara Falls, part of our reservation included $50 slot play at Seneca Casino in Niagara Falls, New York. We thought about driving over to the US, but being Easter weekend meant that the line-ups at the border had the potential to be horrendous. Then we found out that we could walk over. What??? I never knew that you could walk over a bridge and over the border, and we were told that the view from the bridge was spectacular. Of course, the photographer in me jumped at that, and we headed out first thing Sunday morning.
The view was incredible as promised, but unfortunately the beautiful, bright, sunny day was not ideal for photographs. I still managed to get some pretty good shots though which made the walk worthwhile since we lost our $50 and then some at the US casino. LOL
I think you can also walk across the border into Mexico from the States. It’s a little weird. I wish I knew this when I was in Niagara. You know how much I love to take photos. Lovely shots!
Thanks TBM! I must say it felt kind of strange walking over. I’m not sure why – it just felt weird, like we were sneaking across illegally. LOL. The best part was when we went through customs on the way back. The customs guy asked if we had anything to claim, and I answered, “NO! I lost all my damn money at the casino!!” He actually laughed which is very rare for a customs official. 🙂
They’ll let anybody into this country won’t they 😀 I bet #1 would be awesome at night. But I also bet the powers that be would frown on setting up a tripod to get that shot.
I know – I can’t believe they let my husband in either!! LOL. And yes, I wasn’t taking any chances with a tripod. In fact, we didn’t really know how long a walk it would be so I wanted to travel light. I simply took my small camera bag and my passport. Can you believe that? A woman who didn’t take her purse?!?!?
Some things are more important than a purse! Like a good photo 🙂
So true! 🙂
