My Christmas Angels

Angels seem to be everywhere at Christmas time.  We sing about them, we read stories about them, and we even put them on the top of our Christmas trees.  Christmas may be over now, but I still have two angels at my house – my sons!  They aren’t perfect by any means, but they are really amazing and don’t give us much trouble at all compared to many kids nowadays.

This is a picture of my youngest angel, Daniel, taken about five years ago when he still liked to play in the snow and make snow angels.  Now he is a teenager and much too cool for making snow angels.  Now video games and girls occupy his mind, but I guess that’s pretty normal at 15 years old.  Daniel keeps us laughing 24/7 with his incredible sense of humour.  He’s a little crazy just like the rest of us, and he’s as smart as a whip!

Then there is my oldest angel, Bryan, who is 18 years old and has grown into a very handsome man.  Bryan is crazy like the rest of us, but he also has a really sensitive side which will make him into an amazing husband one day.  He is hoping to go away to college next year, which will absolutely kill me, but I know the time is coming.  Here is a picture of him playing in the snow as well, but on this particular day I think the snow was a little bit deep for successful snow angels.

The best part about my angels is how well they get along.  Yes, the younger one purposely pisses off the older one because that’s what younger siblings do, but I can honestly say that they have never ever had a big fight.  Here is a picture of the two of them from yesterday morning when we were opening presents.  Aren’t they handsome?

Don’t worry, even though they are leaving the nest now once they get older and start their own families they’ll be closer to you than you ever imagined. 🙂

  2. I sure hope so!! It’s funny – I used to tease them and tell them they had to live with me forever. When they were really little they agreed, but as they grew older that definitely changed! We are pretty close though, so I know they will never totally desert me!
