Well, there’s only one more sleep until the big day, and guess what? I’m ready!!! The presents are all wrapped and under the tree, the house is full to the rafters with food and drink, and my parents have arrived safely!! Tonight we will be going to my sister-in-law’s house for a while, and then we are hosting Christmas dinner tomorrow.
On Christmas Eve, when everything is done, I like to wander around with my camera and capture memories of Christmas. It’s kind of a tradition for me – it’s my quiet, reflective time before the chaos of Christmas Day. I snap pictures of the tree (with lights on and off), decorations, presents, and people. I have done it every year, and it’s nice to compare the pictures from year to year to see how the kids have grown and how the decorations have changed, or stayed the same for that matter.
Last year on Christmas Eve I took pictures at my sister-in-law’s house too, and this is the angel from the top of her tree. Sometimes photos like this don’t turn out quite the way you want them to because of lighting problems and the fact that the effects that the human eye sees are never quite what appears in the photo. However, I was quite happy with this image – I love the glow on the angel’s face from the candles. She looks so serene and peaceful, and isn’t that what Christmas is all about? For all of you who celebrate Christmas, may it be a happy and peaceful one full of love and laughter.
