The countdown is on!! One week and counting (as of yesterday, when I wrote this) until Santa comes and we all get our turkey hangovers. So, to celebrate I thought it would only be appropriate to post a picture that will tantalize your holiday tastebuds. As I have bragged about before, my husband does a great deal of the cooking around our house, and he cooks a mean turkey. This is a photo of his culinary masterpiece from last year, and yes it was delicious!!
In past years, he would cook the clucker at home and then take it to his mom’s house (to help her out and because everyone loves his stuffing so much), but this year we are having Christmas dinner at our house for the first time ever! Mom and Dad, this is what you have to look forward to! We have so much food in our house right now that I have run out of storage space. I am going to be sooooo fat by the end of the Christmas holidays. 🙂
We are thanking our lucky stars right now though because the other day disaster was narrowly averted. Mike was heating up the oven to cook pizza for supper but had left the room for some reason, and I was sitting in the living room at my laptop drafting my blog post for the next day. All of a sudden I heard rattling and sparking sounds coming from the kitchen and ran to see what was up. I opened up the oven and found that the bottom burner was on fire!! As a result, we cooked the pizza in the toaster oven that night, all the while thinking what a catastrophe it could have been if the burner had blown on Christmas Day – remember, the first Christmas dinner ever at our house! All I can say is Phew!!
Drum roll please!!!!! Here he is – Tommy Turkey. OK, gotta go. My stomach is grumbling and the fridge is calling. Need food!
Looks like it was shoe-horned into the dish. I can smell it from here! Only six days to go. Have a nice Christmas and enjoy your lunch.
If I remember correctly, the lid wouldn’t even fit, and that is a big roasting pan! Thanks and hope you have an amazing Christmas too!
That looks delicious 🙂 Judy
Merry Christmas.
