The diagnosis is in – getting ready for Christmas fries brain cells! I was so tired last night after shopping, cleaning and decorating (which included dealing with a very stubborn Christmas tree that refused to stand up straight) that I ended up flopped on the couch at 9pm watching a Christmas movie in a semi-comatose state. I was so brain dead that I totally forgot about my blog!! Usually, I draft it at night and then at work the next day all I have to do is quickly hit the publish button.
Well, luckily I stopped to take some pictures on the way to work and was able to upload them at the office. Shhh, don’t tell my boss!!! No Photoshop here though, so you get it the way I took it.
Back in October, I posted a picture of an old house on the highway that I see every day on my way to work (see A few shingles, and she’ll be as good as new!!). I mentioned at the time that this house is on the verge of collapse, and Little Bits of Sheffield suggested that I try and take pictures of the house every season. So, here is a winter shot and as you can see the roof is getting worse, and I think the first heavy snow will see the demise of this landmark! I will try and take regular pictures as it deteriorates, and in the meantime I am going to have to keep my eyes open for another landmark to take its place in the “you can never have enough pictures of that” category.
Ok, the boss is not looking……..publish!!
What a great photo. The house is (or was) symmetrical. It must have been a great place in years past.
Greetings from http://northernprints.wordpress.com
Thanks! As I said in my previous post about this house, I often wonder about the people who lived there and what their lives were like.
I enjoy pictures of ruin.
It’s funny, but there is something really appealing about a falling down old house.
Okay, so it’s a “handyman’s special.” But what’s the location like? 🙂
Handyman’s special!!! I love it 🙂 Other than the fact that it is right on a highway, it is in a beautiful part of countryside in southern Ontario – away from the big city but close enough to visit! I’m sure when this house was first built though it would have been on a dirt road with only horse and buggy traffic, back when life was simpler.
Wow! I’m sure Holmes from Holmes on Homes would have something to say about that! I think it’s a very interesting shot though!

Nominated you for an award no need to participate!
Wow, thank you so much Dina! It means so much to me that you enjoy my blog enough to nominate me.
Shhh…I won’t tell your boss
LOL thanks TBM. I don’t usually do that, but I have never missed a day of blogging since I started, and I wasn’t about to start then. It’s kind of like a challenge to myself now, and I’m sure it’s going to be even more of a challenge through the Christmas season. Are you all ready for Christmas? By the way, watch for a really tough mystery photo this week!!
How sad that what was once someones home is in such a state 😦
I know :(. It just looks so sad and dejected, but I’ll bet it holds some awesome memories!
