I have an intense fear of bees and wasps, having been stung one too many times as a child. So, for me to use the macro setting on my camera and get up this close and personal to this little nectar hunter took a lot of guts! It was probably pretty humorous to watch too because anyone who has observed bees at work knows that they do not stay at one flower for long. They flit from one flower to another. So, every time the bee relocated, so did I. And I wasn’t always quiet about it, believe me! The neighbours must have thought I was crazy. Being patient like I am though (or some people might call it stubborn), I persisted and got some really good pictures and I never got stung once. This shot is my favourite because I love the details you can see in the wings.

Wow, what a chubby little bee! I love the contrast with the little red flowers 🙂
Thanks! They are really furry too aren’t they? I never really realized how much until I looked closely at this picture.
