Raising two boys, I quickly came to realize that I would have to embrace the world of bugs and reptiles, in fact anything slithery or creepy crawly. We live in a town, but right on the edge of it with open fields behind us, and when my sons were little they loved to explore for hours and bring home grasshoppers, frogs and snakes, and at night they would go out with their dad with flashlights to search for dew worms for the next day’s fishing trip.
My husband was equally fascinated by the little critters they brought home, and I tolerated them as long as they weren’t set loose in the house! Trust me though, the boys threatened to do just that on many occasions!! Their biggest dream was to hide a snake in my bed, but I think my threats convinced them otherwise (LOL).
Some bugs are very common and were frequent visitors, but this little guy is more the elusive type. Now as far as photographing insects goes, it can be difficult to get a close up shot because as everyone knows they are camera shy and don’t stay still very long. That’s why I was pleasantly surprised when this little guy co-operated so nicely, posing for the camera. And I was delighted with how much detail I was able to capture.
